Bernie Sanders breathed new life into his long- shot White House bid with a cru- cial win in Michigan's primary Tuesday night, chipping away at Hillary Clinton's dominance in the Democratic presidential race. Republican Donald Trump swept to victory in both Michigan and Mississippi, overcoming fierce ef- forts to blunt his momentum. Even with Sanders' win, Clin- ton and Trump moved closer to a general election face-off. Clin- ton breezed to an easy victory in Mississippi, propelled by over- whelming support from black vot- ers, and she now has more than half the delegates she needs to clinch the Democratic nomina- tion. Jackson St., to sup- port the Red Bluff Police Depart- ment's K-9 program, which pres- ently has one officer, K-9 Many, assigned to Sgt. Michael Brown. The event, for which doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner starts at 5 p.m., is being hosted by the K-9 Steering Committee to help with the upkeep and possible expansion of the program, said Steering Committee member Of- ficer James Talley in a Jan. 8 Daily News article. Funds raised from the fam- ily-oriented event will go first to- ward the upkeep of Many, who was brought on board Feb. 7, 2012, thanks to the success of a capital campaign raising funds from the community. Additional funding above Many's costs may be used toward the purchase and training of a second K-9 unit, Talley said. Kirby Wayne Humphreys was driving north on Interstate 5 at about 7:38 a.m. when he lost con- trol of his 2002 Chevrolet Camaro and ran off the road, into the cen- ter divider. Humphreys' Camaro came to a stop and he attempted to reen- ter northbound I-5, going from the left lane into the right lane, where he collided with a 2008 Ford Pickup owned by Pacific Gas and Electric Co., said a California Highway Patrol spokesman. The driver in the PG&E truck, Kelsey Newman, 28, of Orland, had minor injuries but said he would seek his own aid, the spokesman said. According to the CHP web- site, one of the vehicles, which came to rest facing the opposite direction of traffic, was block- ing the road and a traffic break had to be run so the tow truck could turn around to pull the vehicle out. Tehama County Sheriff's logs show an assist was given and as of about 8 a.m., when the depart- ment cleared, there was still one lane closed but traffic was mov- ing.
