Construction crews have been working hard on the beginning stages of the addition and renovation to the chapter house. Everyone can see how quickly the crew is moving, with something changing almost every day. This construction process would not have been possible without the in- credibly generous alumni of the chapter. On behalf of the chapter, I cannot describe how thankful we are for everything you have done and donated to us. We are looking forward to showing just how thankful we are at the first Alumni Weekend at the new house, following its completion. Philanthropy and Involvement We plan on continuing the trend of being involved in many sorority philan- thropies this semester. We are signed up for the Alpha Phi poker tourna- ment and are waiting for the other philanthropies to be announced. This semester, we are planning our own philanthropy, which will consist of col- lecting money in Speakers Circle and selling t-shirts. We are also partici- pating in Greek Week and are awaiting the announcement of the fraternity and sorority that we are paired with. Membership and Recruitment We recruited 16 new members for this spring semester and are just now starting to gear our attention toward fall recruitment. We plan on starting fall recruitment at the end of this semester and, in the spirit of the new house, we are setting a rough goal of at least 30 new members for the fall. We are sending members to recruitment workshops so they can bring back fresh ideas and strategies on how we can achieve this goal. Preparing for the Future I am very excited for this semester and the semesters to come, for many reasons. The executive board and I have been working hard to lay the groundwork for the new house in the fall. This semester out of the house is an opportunity to establish new precedents, as well as improve upon the standards that are already established. One of the projects I am most ex- cited about is an award for individuals who reach a certain semester GPA. This, coupled with the newly established three-strike program, will provide more motivation to achieve a high semester GPA. The general morale is the highest I've seen it since I joined, and I cannot wait to see where we go as a chapter in the coming semesters. YITB, Mitchell Brungard '17 Chapter President mebyt7@mail.missouri.edu Phi Delta Theta Excited for the Future Undergraduates Thankful for Alumni Support Q. Where are you originally from? What at- tracted you to Mizzou? A. I am originally from Chesterfield, Mo. I have lived there all my life (except Columbia for school). I always wanted to attend Mizzou because both of my parents attended Mizzou, as well as my sister, who is 9 years older than me. Q. Why did you choose Phi Delta Theta? A. I chose Phi Delta Theta because I wanted to meet new people after high school. Out of 65 people in the house, only three or four went to the same high school as me. We are close to each oth- er, but we all branched out and met new people. Q. Have you held any positions in the chap- ter? What have you learned from those? A. I worked on the Homecoming committee my junior year and was one of two service liai- sons. We collected cans for the food drive, and I learned there are people less fortunate than my peers and myself. It was a great experience to help others. Q. What activities are you involved in outside of Phi Delta Theta? A. I am currently in the process of applying for Officer Candidate School for the United States Marine Corps. I work on physical training with a great group of guys who are also preparing for the Marines. Q. How do you plan to take advantage of the opportunities provided to you as a MO Alpha member? A. Matt Beckett '96, Dan Beckett '99, and Bruce Beckett '69 have helped tremendously in my application process for the Marines. They all served as officers in the Marine Corps and have really given me insight on what to expect. I can't thank them enough because I've got my heart set on serving as an officer in the Marine Corps, and it is not an easy process. Q. How do you think your Phi Delta Theta ex- perience will affect your life after graduation? A. I've made some great lifelong friends during my time in Phi Delta Theta. I know we will al- ways keep in touch, even when we live far away from each other. All of us will be there for each other in the future. Q. What has been your favorite memory or ex- perience as an undergraduate? A. Senior year, we all drove down to Gulf Shores. It was the last time we were all able to be together before graduation. The time we spent there was awesome and reminded us how special everyone is to each other. It was a great bonding experience. Q. What is your major? What do your future plans include? A. My major is nutrition and exercise physiolo- gy, which is really helping me get in shape phys- ically for the Marine Corps. Q. Do you have a mentor or a brother who has impacted your fraternity experience? A. Anthony Michael '15, who is in my pledge class, has really impacted my fraternity expe- rience. He's a really funny guy and is always keeping everyone going, even during difficult times. He moved back to Columbia in January, so we spend a lot of time together. Q&A with Cameron Price '15
