City., Mo.: Rituals are part of faith observance; many are personal; others are offered in groups. Rituals are important in Islam because they lay the foundation for a moral, god- fearing and wholesome society. Many of the Islamic acts of worship involve rituals. For example, offering prayers five times a day, fasting from dawn to sunset during the month of Ramadan, and once in a lifetime, making a pilgrimage (hajj) to Mecca. The significance of this offering is to show gratitude to the Lord for giving us all the wonderful things for enriching our lives and nourishing our bodies by giving back a portion of what we have received by his grace. The food offered to God, called Prasad, becomes holy, which is distributed to the worshipers after the service. Usually, spiritual life begins with rituals. Eminent Mythology tells the stories and illustrations to support Vedantist Swami Brahmananda said: "It is of vital impor- tance that a man begins his spiritual journey from where he is. If an average man is instructed to meditate on his union with the absolute Brahman (God), he will not understand. ... If the same man is asked to worship God with flowers, incense and other accessories of the ritualistic worship, his mind will gradually become concentrated on God." According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for each day you shall bear your guilt one year, namely forty years, and you shall know My rejection." These men's sons bore the consequences of their fathers' sin. Not only that, but all the children of Israel wan- dered in the wilderness forty years waiting until every one of those men died. Everyone was affected. They were on the edge of entering the Promised Land. Philippians 2:12-13 says that we are to work out our own salvation in fear and trembling. The Ampli- fied says,"...cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete your own salvation with rever- ence and awe and trembling..." We all go through trials to purify our faith, and we all have the same truth in His Word. We are individuals, and our walk with the Lord is our own intima- cy with Him. It is time to cele- brate your uniqueness, and your specific gift mix. Honor the Lord with your life in all aspects by putting away complaining. Influ- ence others through the truth. I wrote this article to influence you to consider who and what is influencing your own life. Don't be like the lobster in the kettle. There is no exception to that truth. Jesus died to take your place. Don't be like the lobster. Wake up and lay hold of the truth before it is too late.
