The program, which is held at the Daystar Ranch in Cotton- wood, is an every other week program the students really en- joy, said Sandra Eppolito of Day- star Rancho who works with the students. "Salisbury High School's stu- dents come to our ranch for a program called Equine As- sisted Learning," Eppolito said. "The student's love it so much they asked the teacher if they could attend once a week in- stead of every other week. Un- fortunately the ranch could not, at the time, afford it. So the stu- dents are hosting a Spring Ba- zaar to raise funds for the pro- gram. We are very hopeful it will have a great outcome." The event will have a host of lo- cal talent such us crafters, singers, face painting and food. ACCIDENT Mandiesaftercrashingintotree By Julie Zeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter RED BLUFF A 12-year-old Nor- wegian girl and her mother made a 23-hour journey to Cal- ifornia to work with Red Bluff- based horse trainer Andy Ad- ams in preparation for the 2016 American Quarter Horse Youth World Cup scheduled for June in Australia. The story of how they ended up connecting with Adams is in part because Adams was doing a horse clinic on cutting in Nor- way, said Henriette Brustad- Kiil. In Norway there are not as many horse trainers as in the United States so when they saw there was a cutting clinic they decided to check out the sport. "We didn't know anything about cutting, but we thought let's try," Aurora Brustad said. Now Aurora, the youngest of a team of five girls mostly ages 17-19 years old, is preparing to compete as a part of the Norwe- gian team at the Youth World Cup, which has competitions in variety of equestrian sports including cutting. The sport is not as familiar to their family as Norway has a rule that un- less you own a cow you are not allowed to work cattle. After at- tending three clinics with Ad- ams, the family decided to see whether he was available to work with Aurora during her winter break. While working a clinic in Nor- way allowed Aurora to learn things such as how to stop, turn and various other basics, it can't compare to the ability to read a cow or knowing how to get it separated from the rest of the herd, Henriette said.
