The fall semester was extremely challenging, as we began the semester with 15 men after the membership review, but we did not let that discourage us. We have grown from 16 men to 35 and continue to recruit men that exemplify our Cardinal Principles. We have also been excelling academically— the chapter earned a 3.07 GPA for the fall and placed second among all fraternities! $16,000 raiSEd For thE Buoniconti Fund Despite our small size, we still had brothers participate in various events hosted by other organizations last semester, such as Delta Phi Epsilon's ANAD Benefit and Phi Sigma Sigma's fashion show. We would like to thank Cedric McMinn '00 for assisting us with an event we hosted with the Big Brother Big Sister's Miami Chapter, in which brothers played sports with 12 children from BBBS. We look forward to continuing our relationship with BBBS, especially considering that they are SigEp's national philanthropy. The Chapter was thrilled to present a $16,000 check in January raised at our block party last April to the Buoniconti Fund. We also look forward to continuing our relationship with them. Special thanks to David del Cristo '10 for making this possible and acting as a liaison between the Buoniconti Fund and SigEp. Strong camPuS PrESEncE This semester we are looking forward to participating in campus-wide events such as Relay For Life and Dance Marathon. We are also going to be participating in the 12th Man Camp, which is an event where volunteers work with children with disabilities who had never had the chance to play sports when they were younger. This gives them the chance to do so by participating in football or cheerleading drills with volunteers. This is something that the Chapter participated in last semester and we all found it to be extremely impactful. Thank you all for your support throughout this trying time for Florida Nu. We will continue to work on bringing the Chapter back to strength, and having one of the strongest SigEp alumni bases in the country backing us is a great asset. Fraternally, Daniel Alonso '16, President dalon031@fiu.edu Inaugural Red Door Classic Charity Golf Tournament a Success $21,000 Raised for Three Charities F IU SigEp alumni teamed up with the Thomas B. Jelke Foundation to put on the inaugural Red Door Classic Charity Golf Tournament on October 23, 2015. Eighty-six golfers played a round at the beautiful Crandon Golf Course. The event raised more than $21,000 for charities. Proceeds went to the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, FIU first generation scholarships, and FIU SigEp scholarships. Plans to have the second annual tournament are in the works and it should be scheduled for late September/ early October of this year.
