T H E TA T H R O U G H T H E Y E A R S C hartered from the first local social society, Sans Souci, Gamma Phi has been at the heart of Greek life at Texas Tech University for over 60 years. With more than 2,400 initiates, Gamma Phi Chapter has nurtured and sustained women during some of the most formative years of their lives, cultivating lasting friendships in the process. As alumnae, we can trace many of our best college memories back to our Theta experience. While there may be some differences in today's chapter compared to the one you knew, there is an unbroken chain of Theta members at Texas Tech. More than ever, sororities play a significant role in the development of young women, and this growth is crucial in today's competitive world. In addition to the values taught by our sisterhood, we acquired valuable assets, which include leadership skills, organizational skills, social skills, teamwork, and character. Oftentimes, these traits have been integral to our personal success and helped make us the women we are today. Our lodge was the first on Greek Circle and, today, is still clearly an integral component of undergraduate life for Gamma Phi Thetas. It has been not only a place of comfort full of fond memories and familiar faces for hundreds of young women, but also a classroom where our sisters have learned to lead on our campus, in our communities, and in their own professional lives. However, if we wish for Theta to continue its strong presence on the Texas Tech campus, we must ensure that we are providing a safe, modern, and competitive facility to accommodate our growing undergraduate chapter. Gamma Phi is an extremely strong chapter today. Our national and campus-wide success reflects the dedication of active and alumnae members over the years to continue the vision that our founders began nearly 150 years ago. As the first Greek-letter fraternity known among women, we are proud of our heritage and we look forward to the future. As alumnae, we have been entrusted with perpetuating a tradition of excellence and giving our time, energy, and resources to assist the next generation. Now is the time to secure our future. PAGE 1
