new house, and house operations are running
smoothly. Food service is a big hit. We are adding
sound attenuating panels to the concrete walls in
the basement, and adding some additional seating
to improve the undergraduates' experience on
the ground floor. We are also in the process of
adjusting the height of the beds on the second
floor. All of these changes will be completed
between now and the beginning of the new
school year.
I want to give a special thank-you to Rob
Marshall '88 and his father for donating the
wonderful Theta Chi leaded-glass coat of arms,
which now sits above the fireplace in the new
house. His father, who is deceased, made this
for Rob many years ago and Rob had it mounted
with light behind it.
Finally, I want everyone to be aware that the
160th Anniversary Convention will take place in
Atlanta from July 22-26. Tom Rossley '82 and
I plan to attend, and we hope to have a strong
contingent of Gamma Taus in attendance.
Love and Respect,

in MeMoriaM—"Brother" scooBy
I
n 2002, a stray cat wouldn't leave the Theta Chi house, so I took it to the Des Moines Animal
Rescue League where I spotted a 4-month-old Border
Collie named Scooby. I took Scooby in and gave him a
home at Theta Chi until I graduated in 2004. He was well
known on Greek Street, mainly because he would try to
herd every car that came down 34th. I'm frequently asked
by fellow brothers how Scooby is doing as he was part of
the Theta Chi family. Sadly, Brother Scooby passed away
on January 23, 2016. I have no doubt the best years of his
life were at the Theta Chi house. He will be missed.
