PAGE 2 Theta Chi Ensuring Your Investment N ow that the capital campaign has come to an end, QC Building Corporation will continue to operate as steward of your donated funds. We will do all in our power to protect everyone's investment. Going forward, we will enter into an annual fund drive to guarantee that we can make appropriate and timely improvements and repairs to the house. We encourage everyone to participate at an annual level that doesn't break your budget, but assists us in our goals. This is our pledge to you: t We will continue to maintain the cleanliness of the house—both inside and out. t We will continue to provide adult guidance to the undergraduates and will be a presence at the house so that the brothers know who we are and that we are a resource. t We will maintain room and board fees as well as parlor fees that will maximize our revenues while keeping the chapter competitive on campus. t We will listen to the undergraduate chapter so that we can deliver a home that they are happy with and proud to live in. Please continue to keep your pledge to the chapter with your ongoing support. Love and Respect, QC Building Corporation The Theta Chi Fraternity at Drake University Helping Hand Foundation The Capital Campaign Board The Chapter Advisory Board T he transformation of Theta Chi through a new chapter house was years in the making, requiring the dedication and commitment of countless alumni. But the work didn't stop with Gamma Tau brothers. It took the backing and efforts of entire families. We're grateful to each spouse who supported the chapter by allowing their husband to give of his time and family's resources. Your gift to Theta Chi is deeply appreciated and we understand the sacrifice you made to see the campaign through to its successful completion. In particular, we'd like to highlight several spouses who have gone above and beyond in their support of Theta Chi. Leslie Seyer Aiello '79, a Daughter of the Crossed Swords, has ties to Gamma Tau both as the wife of Joe Aiello '80 and mother of Joe '05. Leslie worked with architect, Jeff Bodin, and construction manager, Randy Cummings, of Story Construction, to coalesce the visions of alumni and undergraduates alike, to come up with the actual design of the house. She was responsible for all of the interior design, choosing furniture, fabrics, flooring, moldings, appliances, fixtures, paint colors, and accessories, to turn the Gamma Tau house into a home. "I made lifelong friends at Theta Chi as an undergraduate," said Leslie. "Those friendships have lasted more than 40 years, and, in many cases, have been renewed with our recent involvement in the construction project. My husband and son both benefitted as undergraduates from the generosity of older alumni who contributed to the ongoing upkeep of the old house. Joe's involvement now is paying that forward, which is the right thing to do for the future of the chapter at Drake." Named an Honorary Daughter of the Crossed Swords last year, Anne Rossley has created the Gamma Tau website and assisted Tom throughout the years with his Gamma Tau duties. She and her husband, Tom Rossley '82, met through Theta Chi and Anne's brother, Greg Rudnicki '86. Anne connects to the chapter from the perspective of a parent as the mother of Thomas '16 and Michael '18. "It has been a pleasure to support Tom in his work and to be a part of the team that made this campaign happen," said Anne. "Not only did we enjoy the thrill of success, but I was able to spend time with great people and have a lot of fun in the process! This 'second job' has given Tom a chance to reconnect with friends and work as a team to develop a vision for taking Gamma Tau to a new level and safeguarding its existence for another generation." Denise Horner, an ADPi from the University of Northern Iowa, a graduate from Drake University Law School, and wife of Todd Elverson '78, had a unique perspective on the project as a long-time Des Moines resident. "My interest in seeing Theta Chi build a new house was due more to its positive effect on the University and the Des Moines community," said Denise. "Drake has seen improvements of its physical facilities in recent years and I saw the chapter house as an impetus for improving the area surrounding the campus itself. And this has turned out to be the case. On a more personal level, it was just fun to be a part of the project. We had a lot of laughs hosting alumni while they were in town during the development, construction, and celebration phases." To these Daughters of Theta Chi and the many others who were a part of our success, we say thank you with our deepest love and respect.
