The University Art Gallery, in Taylor Hall, at CSU Chico, at First Street between Salem and Normal streets, presents the 57th Annual Juried Student Exhi- bition, through May 13. Receptions will follow at the University Art Gallery and Janet Turner Print Museum. The exhibition, awards ceremony, and recep- tions are free and open to the public. Thirty-four students enrolled in Department of Art classes submitted 45 pieces for consideration. Guest juror Joyce Grimm, writer, curator, and arts educator, selected 20 pieces by 17 artists. Ms. Grimm also chose the exhibition's four cash prizewinners. Joyce Grimm's selections represent an impressive range of approaches, concepts, and media including ceramics, printmaking, photography, sculpture, instal- lation and digital media. She also awarded 4 prizes – 1st, 2nd, 3rd and a special Dean's prize – all of which will remain a secret until they are announced at the May 4 reception. Joyce Grimm is a writer, curator, and art consultant. She teaches in the MFA program at California College of the Arts and was the Co-owner and Director of Triple Base Gallery (2005-11), an experimental exhibition space that encouraged artists to take their work a cre- ative step further and challenge themselves in their artistic practice. This exhibition is funded by Student Instructionally Related Activities Fees. More than 50 photographs of pollinators in wild and garden settings vividly portray the relationship between flowers and their many kinds of pollinators. Through close-up photographs and supplemental examined in a new photography exhibit, "Keeping Com- pany with Flowers: A Glimpse into the World of Polli- nators." The exhibit opened at Gateway Science Museum Wednesday, April 25. The relationship between flowers and pollinators is activities, the exhibit introduces a diversity of pollina- tors, the various processes of pollination, the needs of these pollinators and the obstacles their populations are facing. Whittlesey, owner of Canyon Creek Nursery & Design, is a nationally recognized plantsman and regional garden designer. He took the majority of photographs displayed in the exhibit.
