Los Molinos FFA stu- dents along with their ad- visors, Melissa Stegall and Katie Tenneson, traveled to Pierce High School on Saturday, Feb. 6, for the annual Arbuckle FFA Field Day. Los Mo FFA brought nearly 40 contestants competing in seven differ- ent contests including; Vet Tech, Farm Power, Agron- omy, Nursery Landscape, Floral Design, Creed Speaking and Job Inter- view. This was the official debut for Los Mo's Vet Tech Team. Contestants in this event included Mi- chell Woolbert, Megan Fox, Cheyenne Pilger, Bi- anca Ruvalcaba and Han- nah Thornton. These la- dies took home 10th place of the written test portion of this contest. The Farm Power team consisted of three contes- tants; Steven Pilger, Joe Marsala and Jose Chavez. In the category of Trac- tor Operations, the Los Mo boys took home 5th place — all five top teams had the same score of 75, which is perfect — and Jose Chavez earned 9th place in the Troubleshoot- ing portion of the contest. Dawson Spencer, Jas- min Dela Torre and Am- ber Gardner competed in the Job Interview Con- test, refining their skills on professional interview techniques and strategies to better prepare them for the working world ahead. Los Molinos also brought along with five brave freshman to com- pete in the Creed Public Speaking Contest. This is the third contest for Gen- esis Acevedo, Aaron Chan- dler, Aaron Hardy, Bre- anna Yarbrough and Luis Orozco, and each contest brings with it strides of improvement and confi- dence. In the world of plants and flowers, the Los Mo- linos Floral Design Team consisted of Heather Ro- driguez, Madi Hall, Alyssa Mincher, Skyla Ball and Katie Moran. Heather, a Junior, received 2nd high Individual, doing the en- tire contest with a knee injury in crutches. Nursery Landscape is Los Mo's most veteran team, and they did right by carrying on the tradi- tion and earning 2nd place overall. Additionally, se- nior Justine Yarbrough received 5th high individ- ual and senior Juan Rodri- guez earned 3rd high in- dividual. Lastly, the newest addi- tion to the plant team trio, the Agronomy team con- sisting of sophomores and freshmen, Team A: Ulises Graciano, Elaina Gullick, Anahis Martinez and Car- los Linarez and Team B: Urvicia Hernandez, Cait- lyn Morgan and Sandra Carbajal took home 4th place. This is the first time for the Agronomy Team to place at a contest and they are looking forward to building up their ribbon and plaque collection. Los Molinos has a busy field day season ahead with contests planned nearly every weekend from the first weekend in March to the last in April. The members look forward to their next upcoming con- test at UC Davis on March 5.
