Curry had 26 points, nine rebounds and nine assists for the defending NBA champions. At 48-4, the Warriors have the best record through 52 games in NBA history, one win better than the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls and 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers. Those Bulls finished the season with a league-record 72 wins. Klay Thompson added 24 points for Golden State. Archie Goodwin scored 20 and Markieff Morris 19 for the Suns, who have lost nine straight and 24 of 26. Rookie guard Devin Booker added 15 points and a career-best 10 as- sists. Golden State was up by as many as 22 points in the sec- ond and third quarters, but the Suns cut it to 11 late in the third and 10 a couple of times in the fourth. The only time Phoenix got within single digits in the second half was on Goodwin's breakaway dunk just before the final buzzer. THESCORE Staff Reports RED BLUFF The Lady Spartans capped off their Pink Out fund- raising evening Tuesday with a 47-45 win over the Foothill Cou- gars. A strong first half of defense held the Cougars to just five points in each of the first two quarters. After the half the Cou- gars found a way to put points on the board and came roaring back, but the Spartans held on for the win with 15 in the final frame. Kylee Kitchell and Allyson Drury each turned in a double- double and Kitchell was named player of the game for the Spar- tans, with 10 points, 16 rebounds and three steals. Drury put up 11 points and had 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals; Jesse Miller was a field goal away from a double- double and had eight points, 13 rebounds, four assists and two steals; Maggie Winning had seven points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals and Liz Baccala had six points, four rebounds and a steal. The win capped off the home season for the Spartans, who play their final two games in Redding and Chico. The Spartans (9-3 overall, 3-7 league) are scheduled to take on the Enterprise Hornets (18-5 over- all, 7-2 league) at 7:30 tonight in Redding. CARDINALS 55, YREKA 41 The Lady Cardinals brought home a road win Tuesday evening over the Yreka Miners 55-41. The Cardinals went up early and took a 31-19 lead into half- time. After a slow third quarter, they bounced back in the final frame for the victory. As of 4 p.m. Wednesday no in- dividual stats had been posted. The Cardinals (12-10 overall, 4-3 league) are scheduled to face the Lassen Grizzlies (6-15 overall, 1-6 league) at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Susanville. BULLDOGS 57, LIBERTY CHRISTIAN 19 The Lady Bulldogs scored a big win Tuesday night at home, crushing the Liberty Christian Patriots 57-19. Staff Reports CORNING The Corning Cardinals scored a home win Tuesday night 56-54 over the visiting Yreka Min- ers to remain undefeated atop the Northern Athletic League stand- ings. The Cardinals jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter before the Miners' offense woke up and took a 32-21 lead into halftime. The Miners dominated the third period but the Cardinals held on in the final frame for the win. Wyatt Haydon led the Car- dinals with 13 points, seven re- bounds, an assist and a steal and Cory Busta had a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Austin Mishoe, Noah Zoppi and Brendan Hoag each scored eight points. Hoag had five rebounds, seven assists and three steals; Zoppi had four rebounds, a block and five assists and Mishoe had a rebound. The Cardinals (18-5 overall, 7-0 league) are scheduled to travel to Susanville for an 8 p.m. tipoff Fri- day against the Lassen Grizzlies (13-8 overall, 4-3 league) in the Grizzlies' homecoming game. LIBERTY CHRISTIAN 63, BULLDOGS 53 Sophomore Alex Russell had a monster night Tuesday but it wouldn't be enough for the Bull- dogs, who fell at home to the Lib- erty Christian Patriots 63-53. The Bulldogs fell behind early, bounced back in the second but lagged again in the third period. Despite putting up 17 points in the final frame, it was too little too late. Russell put up 27 points and had a rebound, an assist and five steals; Tanner Prest had nine points, four rebounds and two assists; Josue Orozco had five re- bounds and two steals; Jarred Costa had five points and two rebounds and Aaron Hardy had five points, three assists and four steals. Kyle Wood pulled down eight rebounds. Despite struggling as a team, the Bulldogs have the league leader in steals and No. 2 in points per game in Russell. Hardy, a freshman, is No. 2 in steals and No. 4 in rebounds per game and double-doubles. The Bulldogs (7-16 overall, 0-6 league) are scheduled to host the league-leading Chester Volcanoes (16-4 overall, 5-0 league) on Fri- day. CHESTER 77, WARRIORS 71 The Warriors came home from Ches- ter on Tuesday with a narrow 77- 71 loss to the league-leading Vol- canoes, dropping them to fourth place in league play. After a solid start, a sluggish second quarter made the differ- ence for the Warriors, who went into halftime down 39-27. Despite bouncing back in the third quar- ter to narrow the deficit to five points, the Warriors couldn't pre- vent the Volcanoes from keeping pace in the final frame and hang- ing on for the win. Karl said before the Kings- 76ers game in Phil- adelphia that he and Divac are on the same page. "I've always felt good about Vlade. I don't think Vlade and I have a dis- connect other than we want to win more games than we're winning right now," Karl said. "And that's fine with me. Ev- eryone should want to win more games." Sacramento is 21-31 and has lost eight of its last nine. After Wednesday's game, Karl said the team would go home for the All- Star break to "regroup and recu- perate."
