We had a nice turnout with 3 new players joining us, Merlyn and Verlyn King, our fi rst set of twins to participate and what fun we had getting acquainted. We encour- age golfers to come join us to meet new friends and enjoy old ones. Winners for the day were Robert Dickson and Chester Henry who fi red a team score of 37 which is 19 under par. This makes 2 times in a row that Robert has been on the winning team! Mac McLean and Pete Lilly teamed up fi red another great score of 38 for 2nd place. Third place winner was the team of Russ Leininger and Bud Key who fi red 39. Marlow Pounds made his fi rst visit a memorable one by winning 4th place with his partner, Jerry Taylor, as they shot a round of 40. LeeRaye and Tom Chopski followed closely with their 41 and Bill Toner and Dino Linden were close with 42. The award for lady's long drive went to LeeRaye Christ- ner, men's long drives went to Mar- low Pounds and Robert Dickson. Winner of closest to the pin on hole #8 was won by Linda Taylor with hole-in-one and closest to the pin on #9 was Jerry Taylor. Rainbow Acres will be hosting the February tournaments on Fri- day, Feb 5 & Feb. 26. We will start signing up with partners for the our 4th annual Good Guys/Gals vs Bad Guys/Gals Tournament at the Feb. matches. That tournament will be held March 2-3. First day play will be at Rainbow Acres and second day will be played at the town course. The fi rst day of the match is played on the Rainbow Acres course and the second day is on the Quartzsite town course. You pick your own partner for the two day event and sign up beforehand with Jerry Taylor. The cost is $6 for the 2-day tournament and $4 if you wish to bring someone with you to the meal. Bring your own chairs and beverage. Tableware, plasticware, meat, buns & condi- ments will be provided. If your last name starts with A-Q bring a side dish and R-Z please bring a dessert. The wonderful hamburger and potluck meal to be held at Bill and Dorothy Toner's home at 5:00 the evening of Thurs- day, March 3. Their address is 650 W. Saguaro. You may play your matches at anytime Wednesday and Thursday with your opponents. Sign up the foursome you plan to play with and designate one team as "Good" and one team as "Bad". Whoever wins the match receives one point for the "Good" or "Bad" side. It's just a lot of fun and no pres- sure so pair up and sign up with someone you'd like to play with each day.
