BULLSALE Schedule of events The artists come from all over with pieces en- tered from New York, New Jersey, West Vir- ginia, Texas, Oklahoma, Montana and Wyoming, Daugherty said. Even so it's a bit like a homecom- ing. "I tell all my vendors I can guarantee you'll see someone in Red Bluff that you know," Daugherty said. While Deb Pearse, of Dark Horse Enterprises Sculptures of Spooner, Wisconsin, hadn't run into a lot of people she knew, she was finding people from near her hometown. Pearse, who entered three sculptures includ- ing a horse and a Native American headdress, took first place in metal work. "I started working with metal when I was eight," Pearse said. "I grew up in a family welding busi- ness next to my dad and within the last three years it's evolved into art." Pearse has been an art- ist all of her life and was in the metal craft part of 4-H, she said. With her fa- ther involved in rodeo and working as a jockey and a mother who grew up around a riding stable, she came by her love of horses naturally. Pearse started out in a sign business and when she lost her son ended up designing a steel cross for the grave marker and later an angel bench to recog- nize the loss of both her son and, before that, a daughter, she said. "It started with a news- paper article about the cross and the bench and then my love for art with metal took over," Pearse said. From there, she ended up with a Facebook fol- lowing going from 50 to 1,000 in just weeks and now ships pieces world- wide including South Af- rica and France. She also has Facebook to thank for connecting her to the Western Art Show. "I'm blessed with a tal- ent and I've always given God the glory," Pearse said. "The loss of my daughter led me to the Lord and the loss of my son led me to this (metal sculpture work), which has led me to so many wonder- ful people." The art show will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. All art in the show is for sale. For more in- formation visit www.red- bluffbullsale.com.
