ByKellyOsborne The Veterans Service Office welcomes VA Work Study Joel Johnson to our staff.JoelisanOIF/OEFUS Navy veteran. He is from Chico, grew up in Canada, came back to Chico and joined the US Navy. After a knee injury a year and a half into his service, he was discharged, although he wanted a US Navy ca- reer and retirement. He came home, met his wife and had a daughter. They love being involved in the community, whether it be in politics, Rotary or ro- deos. Joel hopes to be a part of making Red Bluff a better place. Because of the addi- tional VSO staffing, begin- ning March 1 the VSO of- fice will be open for claims four days a week — Mon- day through Thursday. The Red Bluff office assists with claims by appoint- ments and the Corning of- fice by walk-in. We will be closed on Fridays for ad- ministration, training and claim follow-up. Once the DMV form is validated/stamped by the VSO, the form is ready to be taken to the DMV. As a reminder, assisting vet- erans and their families with their VA claims is our highest priority, as we have Veterans with serious health and financial issues There are many state and federal benefits and programs available to veterans and their de- pendents.
