ByJimmyGolen TheAssociatedPress FOXBOROUGH, MASS. TheNew England Patriots would have loved to spend the week with nothing else to worry about ex- cept Saturday's playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Then Pro Bowl defensive line- man Chandler Jones wandered over to the local police station, shirtless and disoriented, leav- ing his house reeking of burnt marijuana. Suddenly, the de- fending Super Bowl champions were back on defense. Fortunately, they're pretty good at it. "I mean, are there any more questions about the Chiefs here?" coach Bill Belichick said Thursday after nine straight un- answered questions about Jones' unusual weekend. "The rest of it — I'm done talking about. We is- sued a statement. That's it." Jones apologized to his teammates and the New Eng- land fans on Thursday, saying he made a "pretty stupid mis- take," but he declined to elabo- rate on what happened. Belich- ick refused to say whether Jones would be benched for fear of re- vealing valuable strategic infor- mation to the Chiefs. In the Patriots' locker room, the players said they would have no trouble putting the incident aside on Saturday. And it's hard to doubt them, after what they have gone through over the last 12 months and beyond. TUNEIN Staff Report LOS MOLINOS The Los Molinos Lady Bulldogs put up a 20-5 lead in the first quarter Thursday eve- ning against the Williams Yellow- jackets and never looked back, finishing off with a 65-17 win at home. Rachel Rogers had a big game with 23 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and eight steals. Other team leaders included Heather Acevedo with 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals; Daisy Weston with 13 points and three rebounds and Heather Ro- driguez with 10 points, four re- bounds, an assist and a steal. Mi- chell Woolbert pulled down eight rebounds and Vanesa Cota had two assists and a steal. The Bulldogs (8-4) were slated to host Live Oak (1-4) on Friday. Boys WILLIAMS 70, BULLDOGS 52 The Bulldogs boys' team didn't fare as well against the Yellowjack- ets, falling 70-52 on the road in Williams. After a close first quarter the Bulldogs entered the second down five at 22-17 but couldn't score ef- fectively, putting up just nine points to Williams' 21, sending them to the half with a double- digit deficit to overcome. Things didn't improve much in the third quarter and, despite a strong final frame, the Bulldogs couldn't close the gap. Alex Russell led the Bulldogs with 16 points, followed by Tan- ner Prest with 13, Aaron Hardy with eight, Jarred Costa with seven and Kyle Wood with six. The Bulldogs (7-9) are sched- uled to face the powerhouse Red- ding Christian Lions (16-0) on Tuesday in Palo Cedro. FOOTHILL 90, SPARTANS 64 The Spartans kept pace with the Foot- hill Cougars on Thursday night at home, going into halftime down by just seven, but a strong second half from the Cougars was too much for the Spartans to over- come, falling 90-64. As of 4 p.m. Friday no stats had been posted for the game. The Spartans (5-10) have a game scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Mon- day at Paradise against the Bob- cats (7-9) and at 7:30 p.m. Tues- day against the Enterprise Hor- nets (11-5) in Redding. ROSS D. FRANKLIN — THE ASSOCIATED PRESS FILE Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) is sacked by Arizona Cardinals inside linebacker Dwight Freeney during a Dec. 27game, in Glendale, Ariz. By Bob Baum The Associated Press GLENDALE, ARIZ. Three weeks ago, the Arizona Cardinals beat the Green Bay Packers by 30 points. No one should expect that kind of blowout when the teams meet again Saturday night, this time in the NFC divisional play- offs. "I think these guys definitely come back here with a bad taste in their mouth," Arizona corner- back Patrick Peterson said, "so I think it will definitely be a much better game." Oddsmakers are picking the Cardinals, the NFC's No. 2 seed, by seven points, although Packers coach Mike McCarthy wouldn't call his team the underdog. "We're no underdog going to Arizona," McCarthy said after his team's 35-18 wild-card vic- tory over Washington. "I don't care what people think or how we're picked or things like that. We're going out there to win, and expect to win." The Associated Press SAN FRANCISCO First baseman Brandon Belt has asked for a $7.5 million salary for the 2016 season from the San Francisco Giants, who are offering $5.3 million. The salary ar- bitration numbers were exchanged Friday. While Gi- ants general man- ager Bobby Ev- ans has regularly brought up the idea this offseason of a possible multi- year deal for Belt, nothing has been done yet. Belt traveled to Florida in Feb- ruary 2014 for an arbitration hearing that was avoided when the sides settled just beforehand to avoid the team's first hearing since catcher A.J. Pierzynski in 2004. In 2014, Belt returned from concussions to help lead the Gi- ants to their third World Series in five years. The 27-year-old batted .280 with 18 home runs and 68 RBIs in 2015 as the Giants missed the playoffs. Also, reliever George Kontos asked for $1.35 million and the Giants offered $850,000. BASEBALL Giants, Belt trade salary figures First baseman has asked for $7.5 million, team offers less The Associated Press OAKLAND Right fielder Josh Red- dick has reached agreement on a $6.575 million, one-year contract with the Oakland Athletics to avoid salary arbitration. Oakland also settled with right- hander Fernando Rodriguez on a $1.05 million, one- year deal Friday. He asked for $1.05 million and paper- work necessitated the club offer the same salary. Reddick batted .272 with 20 homers — his second-high- est total in seven major league seasons — and 77 RBIs in 149 games last season for the A's. An AL Gold Glover in right field in 2012, Reddick was limited to 114 and 109 games in the 2013 and '14 seasons before bouncing back healthy last year. He dealt with a nagging right knee in- jury in '14. Rodriguez went 4-2 with a 3.84 ERA in 56 appearances and 58 2/3 innings with Oakland in 2015.
