Cast your cares on God many different forms: the economy, gas prices, health problems, relation- ship issues, job stresses, day to day problems that arise and the list could keep going. Seems like so many peo- ple I come in contact with are drown- ing in the cares of life. As Christians, that is not how we have to live. Jesus tells us He overcame the world and all the junk that goes with it when He hung on that cross and paid for our redemption. He has deprived it of power to harm us. Cares of the world. They take on world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confi- dent, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]" We all face different issues in this life. None of us are exempt. What is your response when a care arises? Do you know you don't have to act on what you see or feel? Unfortu- nately, many people don't know that, but feelings and situations change. Can issues be painful? Yes. Can In John 16:33 we read,"In the they be uncomfortable? Yes. Do we have to like them? No, but we can be honest with God and say, "Lord, this hurts and I am having a hard time, but I will cast my care on you and then sit back and watch you work on my behalf." we will have issues. They have many different titles but no matter what the title is, they are painful and cause us to worry and become distracted, if we let them. But the Bible tells us to cast our cares on Jesus because He cares so much for each of us. Cast means to throw, hurl, heave, sling or toss. Just as a fisherman hurls his nets As long as we live on this earth out into the water, we are to hurl our cares to our heavenly Father. You might even want to picture yourself doing just that. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your wor- ries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watch- fully." Here are some practical steps to casting our cares on the Lord. The first thing is to pray, in faith! Phil. 4:6 says to be anxious for nothing, but pray and let your requests be made known to God. Worry robs us of our faith. It also steals our health...causes headaches and ulcers and robs us of our strength. Why worry? If we could change the problem the Lord wouldn't have told us to cast our cares on Him. Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows; it empties today of its strengths. The problem may still be there minds off of the problem and onto God. God's word has all the answers we need for all of life's junk. If your cares are health related, then look up all of the promises on health. If you have family issues see what God promises about your family. Feed on what you need. The more you medi- tate on the promises in God's word, the stronger your faith and the small- er your cares. Matthew 6:33 tells us if we seek God and put Him first in all areas then He will take care of the rest. God has a way of making our paths smooth when we cast our cares on Him. That doesn't mean all the issues will go away; it just means that when we seek Him and trust Him we have a different attitude and outlook on the issues. It is so liberating to Declaration to Life: Lord, the cares of life are overwhelming but I choose to cast my cares on you Lord. I will pray in faith, read your word, seek you first in my life and have peace while I watch you work on my behalf. I choose to believe every- thing else will be taken care of by you. We can have peace, knowing God's got our back. Jesus said, "you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." That means freedom from worrying and stress too.
