ELKS LODGE Tehama eLearning Adult Education celebrated a spe- cial graduation ceremony Jan. 5. Fifty adults were able to receive their high school diplomas thanks to re- cent legislation that retro- actively cancelled the Cal- ifornia High School Exit Exams. Many of the people, ranging in age from 18 to 50 years old, needed only a few courses to earn the 180 required high school cred- its to graduate. The courses were pro- vided on-line, which meant the students were able to complete their assignments at home or any other place and at any time of the day or night on any system that had an Internet connection. Special guests were Charles Allen, Tehama County superintendent of schools, Richard DuVarney, assistant superintendent, and Dr. Harold Vietti, who created the on-line curric- ulum for adult education and the Tehama eLearn- ing Academy. Any resident of Tehama County 18 years old or older is eligible to partici- pate in the high school di- ploma completion program by contacting the center at 900 Palm St. in Red Bluff or by calling 527-7055 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday for an appoint- ment.
