Our Needs and Opportunities " " "Kappa gave me a safe place to grow and a safe place to fail. I loved my time as an active, and I have loved my time as an alumna. The friendships with like-minded women who have a common purpose are so fun and so rewarding!" Jan Law Thetford '77 PRESERVING OUR PAST Built in 1976, #9 Greek Circle has been the home of Delta Psi for almost 40 years. When built, the chapter room held around 100 members. The lodge has been expanded two times since 1976. Currently, Delta Psi has 241 initiated active members. The current space no longer meets the needs of the chapter. It is clear that to remain competitive at Texas Tech, we must make a major investment in the facility. We must provide a quality meeting and study environment to support our sisters. PROMOTING OUR LEGACY Kappa Kappa Gamma has been a leader on the Texas Tech campus since our installation. Members are known on campus for their involvement, academics, and character. Kappa Kappa Gamma creates a strong connection to the University and the community beyond. As Texas Tech grows, so does membership in the Panhellenic community. With record numbers participating in the Recruitment process, new member classes continue to increase. With over 240 active members, Delta Psi has simply outgrown the current space. Limited space impacts chapter meetings, Recruitment, initiation, sisterhood, and storage. It is a necessity to create an environment that is both updated and comfortable for our members. PURSUING EXCELLENCE Delta Psi remains committed to pursuing academic excellence. As Texas Tech becomes more academically challenging each year, the study needs of chapter members increases. Members need quiet study spaces with plenty of support for high-speed Internet access and connections to electronic campus study aids. Our plan will ensure that Kappa Kappa Gamma has the infrastructure in place to provide the technology that is essential in today's academic culture. This will allow Delta Psi to excel academically and remain a scholastic leader on campus. PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE The Greek system at Texas Tech remains strong and growing. In 2015, Alpha Xi Delta colonized with over 100 new members. In a few years, Phi Mu will again colonize at Texas Tech. Also, most of the Texas Tech Panhellenic community has begun to upgrade their lodges. Those building new or expanding current facilities include: Alpha Phi, Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, Pi Beta Phi, and Zeta Tau Alpha. Others, such as Kappa Kappa Gamma, are in the planning and building stages. To remain competitive, Delta Psi must keep pace with the Panhellenic community.
