The threat was reported to have been called in to the courthouse Monday morning. The Tehama County Sheriff's Office dispatch center received a call stating two possible bombs at the courthouse were reportedly going to be detonated at 8:30 a.m., according to a Sheriff's Office representative. The courthouse grounds and buildings were completely searched and cleared and nothing sus- picious was found, according to the representa- tive. People were allowed back into the courthouse by 8:45 a.m., a courthouse employee said. As of 6 p.m. Monday, nothing further had been released about the incident. THREAT Earlybomb threat evacuates courthouse Staff Reports CORNING A theft of electronics occurred Jan. 5 at the West Street Elementary School that resulted in an estimated $7,600 in property being stolen. The property reported stolen includes 16 Sam- sung Google Chrome laptops, six Motorola two- way radios and an Apple iPhone 5S, according to a Corning Police Department press release is- sued Monday. The items were stolen from a locked building of the school where the classroom for the Safe Ed- ucation and Recreation for Rural Families pro- gram is held, according to the release. Corning Police Department officers responded at 11:35 a.m. Jan. 5 to the school for the reported burglary and began interviewing several wit- nesses about the stolen items taken from the classroom. Officers are still investigating the incident and have not released a suspect name. If identified, the suspect would face felony charges of burglary and grand theft, according to the release. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Corning Police Department at 824-7000. From more advanced work to beginners, the organization offers plenty of opportunities for people of all ages to take a class, includ- ing two classes over the weekend with Nora Schwaller as an in- structor. On Saturday, for the fish plate ceramic workshop, there were two adults for the first session while the secondary session of the day was mostly made up of parents and children working together to create memories and works of art. By Julie Zeeb jzeeb@redbluffdailynews.com @DN_Zeeb on Twitter RED BLUFF Members of the local cattle industry gathered Saturday with about 330 in attendance to honor the Tehama County Cattlemen's Association Man of the Year, Tehama County CattleWomen Cow- belle of the Year and schol- arship recipients from both organizations at the 64th annual Winter Din- ner at the Tehama District Fairground. The event served as the 13th annual Agricultural Scholarship Fundraiser with both silent and live auctions presided over by Justin Niesen. John Gen- try served as the evening's Master of Ceremonies. A prime rib dinner was pre- pared by Vic Woolery and served to 329 people. The two organizations raised about $21,500 through the auctions. In 2015, the event raised $22,000, with the Cat- tleWomen giving out six scholarships and the Cat- tlemen giving out seven, Chairwoman Cathy Tobin said. Scholarships are in two categories with some scholarships for those pur- suing an education that is in the field of agriculture and some scholarships for local families in the agri- culture industry. Cattlemen recipients in- cluded: Bailey Brownfield, Will Macdonald, Abigail Brown, Zack Pritchard, Savanna Miller and Emily Andreini. CattleWomen recipients included: Emily Andreini, Corey Carpen- ter, Savannah Miller, Jase Northrup, Stacy Stroing, Jessica Macdonald and Za- kry Stroing. 2014-2015 Tehama County Cattlemen Pres- ident Steve McCarthy handed over the reigns to incoming President Chad Amen. In a short speech, McCarthy reminded at- tendees that supporting the education of youth, es- pecially those studying ag- riculture, was important.
