JOEMAHONEY—THEASSOCIATEDPRESSFILE Denver Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler (17) is sacked by Oakland Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack (52) during a Dec. 13game in Denver. ByBarryWilner APProFootballWriter NEW YORK Khalil Mack has made All-Pro history. Mack's versatility and relentless- ness earned him selection at two po- sitions on the 2015 Associated Press All-Pro Team, an NFL first. The sec- ond-year Oakland Raiders defensive end and outside linebacker drew enough support Friday from a panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league to make the squad at both spots. Others, including Houston's J.J. Watt last year, have been chosen first team at one position and sec- ond at another. Watt was a unani- mous pick at defensive end for this season's team, as was Minnesota run- ning back Adrian Peterson. "I do whatever I can to help the team win. I'm a team guy," said Mack, who had 15 sacks (five in one game), behind only Watt in the league. "Whether it's dropping in cov- erage or rushing the passer. I can do either. I think they (voters) saw that." What the voters also saw was the superb work by the Carolina Pan- thers. Carolina, with an NFL-best 15-1 re- cord, had the most All-Pros with six: quarterback Cam Newton, fullback Mike Tolbert, center Ryan Kalil, line- backers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis, and cornerback Josh Norman. Kuechly led the Panthers contingent with 49 votes. "He has fulfilled everything we thought he could be," Panthers gen- eral manager Dave Gettleman said of Newton. "And he's just had a great year. Again, the franchise quarter- backs make everybody better — that's what they do." Newton was especially happy to join Kuechly on the team; the line- backer has made it in three of his four pro seasons. "That's big, man," Newton said, adding with a laugh, "I'm just trying to be like Luke Kuechly man, that's it — Captain America, man. He sets the tone." Five teams — New England, Pitts- burgh, Cincinnati, Arizona and St. Louis — had two All-Pros each. Steel- ers receiver Antonio Brown drew 49 votes; teammate David DeCastro made it at guard. LITTLE LEAGUE Central Tehama sign-ups next week By Andrew Baggarly Bay Area News Group SAN FRANCISCO Bruce Bochy is about to manage his 22nd ma- jor league season. He owns three World Series rings and has won four pennants. He's led several other clubs to playoff appear- ances. Up the middle, he cannot think of a stronger group than what the San Francisco Giants promise to field in 2016. "I really can't," said Bochy, as the Giants introduced center fielder Denard Span on Friday. "We're set everywhere right now. Usually you go to spring training and have some question marks." The Giants spent all winter gathering exclamation points. They spent $220 million to back ace Madison Bumgarner with pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Johnny Cueto. They locked up Gold Glove shortstop Brandon Crawford to a six-year extension. They still have Buster Posey be- hind the plate, and second base- man Joe Panik is fully recovered from his lower back injury. Now their up-the-middle strength ex- tends to center field, where Span combines contact skills in the leadoff spot with the ability to flag down baseballs faster than gravity can.
