She married Albert Escue on September 4, 1955 and had 4 children: Juanita Marie, James Brian, Nanci Anne and Bruce Craig. She was a de- voted wife, mother and grandmother to her family and was a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, reading and gardening but her family was most important to her. She moved from Iowa to California in 1959 with her husband and oldest daughter and lived in various small towns through- out California, residing in Red Bluff for the past 22 years. She was a hard-working woman, both inside and outside of the home and was involved in many community activi- ties during her lifetime, supporting her family in so many ways. It seems that this fascinating religious group has an ancient custom called "Shemittah" meaning a sabbatical "year of release". Accordingly, every seventh year they must let their land lay fallow for a whole year. Over here it would probably empty the government warehouses in a hurry. But, in Israel, it could bankrupt the country. They should reflect their various personalities. We named our first Boxer Max. In those early Bebop days, Max Roach was a very hip drummer…and our Max was hip as well. His (the Boxer) wife's name was Sassy and sassy she was. Our cattle buyer, Hank Kerber, found a starving female Boxer out on the Diamond Range. We took her in, and after we got a little weight on her, she became attractive and rather sophisticated .We named her Mrs. Kennedy. We named our goat Anna after Marlon Brando's first wife. I forget why. We took in another Boxer already named Bonzo. That name did not fit because he had only one testical and should have had a more meaningful moniker. And perhaps that's enough names for today. * * * It's time to start buying beefsteak again. Prices are getting more affordable. Yes sir, there is nothing like a delicious steak.
