Frazier is the most re- cent addition to the progressive line of the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Mason of North Caro- lina, those men on the path to become grand master of Masons in North Carolina. e Mount Hermon 118 member was appointed junior grand steward by Grand Master-Elect Bry- ant D. Webster on September 26 at Annual Communication. Frazier, a seventh generation resident of Asheville and Buncombe Couunty in North Carolina's mountains, was born August 16, 1970 to Nelson Del- aney and Donna Lynn Poore Frazier. He attended Tuscola High School in Waynesville and became the first mem- ber of his family to graduate college when he majored in history at the Uni- versity of North Carolina Asheville. He Kevan D. Webster was installed as the 163 rd grand master of the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of North Carolina on December 5. is follows his election at our Annual Communication September 26. He was appointed to the Grand Lodge line in 2008 by Grand Master-Elect Dan Rice. Webster was born October 8, 1969 to Deleron Lafayette Webster Jr. and Mary Ruth Scott Webster in Durham, NC. His father is a past master of Knap of Reeds 158 in Bahama, NC. Webster attended the University of North Carolina where he earned bachelor of arts degrees in English and political science in 1991. He attended the University of North Carolina Law School, receiving his juris doctor with honors in 1994. West Asheville 665 (now Nichols- Webster is new grand master West Asheville 650) initiated Bryant Webster on June 21, 1999. He was passed August 16 and raised Novem- ber 6 of the same year. He served that lodge as master in 2005 and as trea- surer 2006–2012. He served lengthy appointments to the Masonic & Eastern Star Home Board of Directors and Grand Lodge Code Commission. He is grand repre- sentative to the Grand Lodge of Brasilia. Webster is an attorney with Stone & Christy, P.A., in Black Mountain, NC. He is admitted to practice be- fore North Carolina State Courts and Eastern, Middle, and Western Dis- tricts of US Federal Courts. His fo- cus is on real property litigation and estate based litigation. He received the 2015 William L. orp Pro Bono Award from the North Carolina Bar Association. e award is presented annually to one lawyer in the State of North Carolina and went to Webster for his free legal work through Pisgah Legal Services and the Moun- tain Area Volunteer Lawyer Program. Bryant also serves on the executive board of the Daniel Boone Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and served as Council president 2011–2013. He is married to Janet Lee Baldwin Webster. Jan is director of WRESA (Western Region Educational Service Alliance) a North Carolina State agency which provides continuing education, grant writing, and consulting services to public school systems in the western part of our state. eir daughter, Amy, is a ninth-grader in Buncombe County Schools. ey attend Biltmore Baptist Church in Asheville. holds graduate degrees in history from Kent State University and West Vir- ginia University. Frazier comes from a long line of Masons on his mother's side of the fam- ily. He was initiated in Mount Hermon 118 in Asheville April 23, 2009. He was passed July 30, 2009 and raised Sep- tember 19, 2009. A visit to the George Washington Masonic National Memo- rial in Alexandria, VA inspired him to "knock on the door of the lodge." He is a member of Asheville York Rite Bodies and Order of Amaranth Court No. 1. He was master of Mount Hermon Lodge in 2014 and is current- ly president of the Asheville Masonic Temple Board. He is a former history professor at UNC Asheville and has had a 20-year career in higher education administra- tion at both UNC Asheville and West- ern Carolina University. He is executive director of Western Carolina Universi- ty's graduate and professional programs in Asheville. Frazier owns and operates Asheville by Foot Walking Tours, a small business that offers history walk- ing tours of Asheville. His recently published Legend- ary Locals of Asheville is a collection of biographical shorts of people who have shaped Asheville over the past 225 years, many of whom were Masons. Frazier was many years on the Ashe- ville-Buncombe Historic Resources Commission and recently on the time capsule committee for the monument in Asheville honoring brother and gov- ernor Zebulon Vance. His hobbies include cycling, garden- ing, and travel. Frazier is latest addition to GL line Living history WINDSOR — Charity 5 held a special Masonic Education May 28 featuring 14 th Dis- trict Deputy Grand master Larry Hudson. He discussed Masons during the Civil War while showing era clothing and weapons.
