Box 220 Red Bluff, CA 96080 some of my fellow women have bitten the bait thrown to them by Democratic opera- tives promoting a so-called "Republican war on women." I guess I shouldn't be sur- prised. After all, women have been easily deceived since Adam and Eve. Ever since a snake convinced Eve to eat forbidden fruit, women have been willing to accept lies about who they are and what they're capable of accom- plishing. In a way, Democrats have conducted a psychological campaign to fool many women into believing they are an eternal minority, destined to eat the scraps fed to them by a Democratic party more concerned about their votes than their contribution to society. The war is contrived, by Women hoodwinked by the Democrat spin machine I'm a bit disappointed that anything up better than the Democrats have done to try to fool women." From start to finish, this con on women was created to distract us from seeing the truth: The Obama administra- tion's economic policies have caused women to lose ground previously won by women under administrations from both parties. Bureau of Labor Statistics data reflects that since Obama took office, women's unemployment num- bers have moved in the wrong direction, from 7 percent to 8.1 percent. the way. On the O'Reilly Fac- tor April 6, Democrat news analyst Juan Williams described the scam as a "phony war on women." Speaking to another Democ- rat strategist, Williams said, "I mean, you couldn't make Democrats have tried, and will continue to try, to blame Bush and the GOP, and appar- ently there will always be a few women ready to believe it every time. With Democrats in control for the first two years of Obama's presidency, you'd think women would be advancing across the econom- ic battlefield with boldness, but, just like in war, when your leadership is run by "girlie men," things don't end well. Information from a July 2011 Pew poll based on Bureau of Labor Statistics data casts Obama's economic policies as chauvin- istic, considering men have much better than women under his leadership. From June 2009 through May 2011, men gained 768,000 jobs and lowered their unemployment rate 1.1 percent, while women lost 218,000 jobs, and their unemployment rate rose by 0.2 percent. Overall, Democ- rat economic poli- cies "favored men over women in all but one of the 16 major sectors of the econo- my." In five sectors, women lost jobs while men gained them. In other sectors, men gained jobs at a faster rate than women and lost them at a slower rate than women. State government was the only sec- tor favoring women. fared recovery from the Great Recession is the first since According to the poll, "The 1970 in which women have lost jobs even as men have gained them." But Obama did promise to be a dif- ferent kind of presi- dent. Susan Brown women prefer to stick their head in the sand. Another recent Pew gender gap poll shows women now support Obama over the proven job cre- ator Mitt Romney by 20 percent. As a woman, I grow weary of a Democrat Party spin machine which uses females as pawns in their politi- cal chess game, and the women who fall for it -- every time. Why Republicans need a war on religion Commentary to have a war on women; they wanted a war on religion. Their intention was to march two Republican-created boo- giemen into a battle that would make the War on Christmas cringe: ObamaCare and Oba- maIsAMuslim. The Afford- able Care Act stipulates birth control be included in insur- ance coverage instead of forc- ing women to pay out of pock- et for such medications. This was the shot across the bow for the GOP to start their war. Republican sage, Congress- man Darrell Issa, called a bunch of men of faith (yes, all men) to testify to Congress how the provision in the health care law regarding birth con- trol would adversely affect them. Republicans didn't set out Then the right-wing echos- phere spent the next week bouncing the sound bite: "This isn't about contraception, this is about religious freedom." America's right-wing: Afraid of Muslims, suspicious of Mormons, terrified of athe- ists and martyrs of religious freedom. war on religion with the word "slut." Oh and by proposing laws against women getting equal pay, and a right to priva- cy or recourse if a doctor lies Republicans botched their to them. The Chairman of the RNC, Reince Priebus, said the war on women is imaginary at the same moment Republican legislators around the country were introducing bills eroding women's rights. So the war over what kind of war this was — religion or women — was lost by Republicans. Their best efforts to get a fruitful campaign about religious lib- erty backfired into a debate about gender equality. To quote Rick Perry, "Oops." This party used to be better at getting traction with these wedge causes-they-call-wars. This has been their modus operandi to pummel artists, single mothers, monogamous gay couples, pot smokers, public employees and other subversives for decades: They create a fake crisis, say it will kill us all and then repeat it until our ears bleed. How have they fumbled manufacturing a war on reli- gion?! This is a John Carter level of a stink bomb: It's totally formulaic — how can it fail? pledge of allegiance AND that faith is somehow being threat- ened. It's like saying you're the size of Goliath but everyone should view you as David. Perhaps it's just hard to con- vince Americans we are a Christian nation founded in religion with a tradition of religion in every facet of our lives from our money to our Republicans really need a war on reli- gion. Badly. A com- mon foe would not only glaze over the fact their nominee Mitt Romney is from a new sect distrusted by other sects — it would unite (they hope) all people of faith into their special brand of ultra-conser- vative gospel. A gospel that mega- church pastor, tax- free status enjoyer Rick War- ren summed up nicely on the holiest of Easter Sundays on ABC's This Week: "I don't believe in wealth redistribu- tion." Yes, when Jesus wasn't hunting quail with his Glock sub-compact semi-auto — he was all over trickle down eco- nomics and scapegoating the poor for political gain. A war on religion would soulless corporations. All the hacking away at women's rights, the social safety net and consumer protections would be given a pass under "religious freedom." Try it: "This isn't about toxic drinking water/corporate wel- fare/millionaire tax breaks — it's about religious freedom!" It works for nearly everything. Tina Dupuy give Republicans back their big tent. It would be a giant diverse group of people who would put faith in the Grand Old Party looking out for their eternal souls instead of just petty differences and come together as Republicans. Since the GOP needs this war on religion to push through their ironically social Darwinist agenda — they're not going to give up trying to create one. What does a preemptive victim searching for a persecu- tor look like? It looks a lot like the Republicans' "war on reli- gion." ----- This will all go perfectly if they find an enemy. One good enough, or bad enough as the case may be, to compel all Americans of faith to give up their Tina Dupuy is an award- winning writer and fill-in host at The Young Turks.
