A s the holidays near, it is wonderful to reflect on how many lives Theta Theta Chapter of Sigma Chi has affected over the years. Many men have passed through the front doors at 548 South State Street and have gone on to do great things for their families and communities. As collegians, we learned the values of respect, friendship, leadership, and so much more. The Chapter House was a place we all came together to utilize and further expand on those traits and skills. During this holiday season, we are truly thankful for the 174 alumni who have helped us raise more than $1.3 million toward our $1.5 million goal. Because of these alumni, many projects have been completed, including $250,000 worth of work to the Chapter House foundation. This update is crucial to the safety of our undergraduate members, as the foundation had not been repaired since the house was built. In addition to being thankful for the 174 alumni who have donated to the Preserving Our Past, Securing Our Future: 100 Years at 548 South State campaign, we are extremely grateful for Theta Theta alumni Bill Swaney '60 and Jeff Rich '82, who have generously donated a dollar- for-dollar match for every dollar pledged to the renovation of Theta Theta. Donations for the challenge are still being accepted. Be sure to send in your gift for double the impact today! Because of the foundation work that had to be done, other crucial projects had to be deferred, including installing a new dining room floor, new furniture throughout the Chapter House, dormer repairs, brick cleaning, tuck-pointing, and masonry repair of chimneys. These projects are crucial, and need to be completed as quickly as possible—but funds are not available. Will you honor your Theta Theta membership this holiday season with a financial contribution? To date, only 10.98% of alumni have donated to the campaign. Are you among those who have yet to donate? Now is the time to get on board with this project and help with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity? The classes of 1960 and 1961 have the most participation in the campaign. Is your class among the top 10 classes? Be sure to check out the list on page 3 of this newsletter for a listing of those classes, and then call the brothers in your class today to encourage them to help out! We need support from more alumni in order to make our dreams for Theta Theta a reality. During this season, I am thankful for my Sigma Chi membership, and hope you will join me in honoring Theta Theta with a financial contribution. A pledge card is enclosed for your consideration.
