She will be truly missed by all who knew her and were touched by her warm personality. Julie held the positions of intramural and philanthropy chairman during her tenure at Phi Chapter. She was not only a mentor but a true role model for Alpha Chi Omega for generations to come, not only at Phi but the national level as well. Julie graduated from KU's prestigious pharmacy school in 2000 and exceled in her career endeavors. In addition to all of her work accolades, her true passion was being an amazing mother and wife to her sons, Lucas and Elijah, and her devoted husband, Todd. Mary Fassnacht Whitaker '59, our beloved Phi Chapter sister, passed away Wednesday, November 18 at age 74, at home with her family after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She will be truly missed by all that knew her and all of her efforts to make Alpha Chi Omega what it is today. Mary held numerous leadership positions at Phi chapter as a collegiate, inspiring her to be a special education teacher. As an alumna, she was the House Corporation Board (HCB) President, chapter advisor, and province president; she loved being an Alpha Chi and Kansas Jayhawk. Most recently, Mary was an HCB board member and centennial chairwoman in 2014 at Phi but volunteered at the national level as well. She won the Alpha Chi Omega of the Year award in 2014 for the Mu Mu Greater Kansas City Alumnae Chapter. Mary was the Alpha Chi that we all aspire to be. In addition to all of her philanthropic and professional accolades, her true passion was being a devoted mother to her daughter Lori Whitaker Chandler '87 and showing the world to her grandchildren. ALUMNAE NEWS Sisters from Phi Chapter traveled to Napa, Calif., to support two pledge class sisters as they completed the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon in Napa on July 19. Phi Chapter Wins Homecoming 2015 T he University of Kansas celebrated its 103rd Homecoming October 25-31. After a week of competitions, we are exctied to announce we were the winners with our partners Sigma Alpha Epsilon! We had two members serve on the Alumni Association Homecoming Steering Committee: Hallie Holton '13 served as a campus outreach chairman and Melanie Edwards '13 was the publicity chairman. Phi Chapter was also excited to have senior Angie Bass '12 as one of five Ex.C.E.L. finalists recognized at halftime. She was selected from members of the senior class based on her excellence in community involvement, education, and leadership at the University.
