10 NOVEMBER 18-24, 2015 WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM Shopping Local for the Holidays Holiday shopping has begun! As you prepare to check items off your list, have you considered where you'll be purchasing your gifts? Now's the time to support local by shopping local. You're sure to find all of the items on your holiday gift list throughout our community. Buying locally sustains the unique character and quality of life of your community. Beyond the economic impact of your spending, buying locally supports the businesses that reinvest in our community's social and environmental well-being. Local businesses give generously to area churches and non-profits and sponsor events that enhance the quality of life in our community. Did you know that statistically, nonprofit organizations receive an average of 250% more support from small business owners than from larger businesses? It's important to remember that our one-of-a-kind local businesses are an integral part of our distinctive regional character. A local economy of diverse, unique businesses also attracts today's skilled workers and investors who can choose to settle and grow businesses anywhere. Dollars spent at a local business are also reinvested in our community's employees through wages and reinvested in other organizations through the purchase of professional services and other business services. And by purchasing from local businesses, you travel fewer miles, saving you time, gas money, and carbon emissions. One way to support local this Holiday season is by participating in Small Business Saturday, which takes place Saturday, November 28th. So don't forget this holiday season to take a few minutes and look at your gift list to see where you can purchase it locally. Also remember that you can do this year round not just during the holiday season. To see a directory of all the unique business in our community we encourage you to visit our website at www.faybiz.com and review our online directory. 159 MAXWELL STREET, FAYETTEVILLE | (910) 483-8133 | FAYBIZ.COM Upcoming Events New Members Freedom Christian Academy LegalShield Prestige Trash Bin Cleaning, LLC Thanks for Renewing Cape Fear Eye Associates, PA Crown Dodge of Fayetteville ECS Carolinas, LLP Haire Plumbing & Mechanical Co., Inc.
