Busy Semester Leads to Success Pi Chapter Welcomes 54 New Members, Wins First Place for Homecoming Yard Float B eing a senior and entering the last stretch of my presidency, it becomes clearer how precious and influential my college experience has been because of Gamma Phi Beta. My love for Pi Chapter has grown deeper with each year I have been a member. Each day, these women teach me something new about inspiring the highest type of womanhood. Around 1,090 women went through formal recruitment this year, and Pi Chapter gained a fabulous pledge class of 54 new members. Each of them brings a special light to the chapter, and I am excited to watch them grow during their next four years at UNL. Thank you to everyone who helped create a successful recruitment, whether it was through volunteering your time, writing a reference letter, or attending mock recruitment. As always, we are keeping busy this fall! We kicked off the semester by participating in Homecoming Week, where the theme was Husker Heroes. Gamma Phi joined with Delta Delta Delta, Phi Gamma Delta, and Theta Phi Alpha to win first place in the yard float competition! We spent countless hours pomping our float, donating blood, and cheering on the parade. I was honored to represent Gamma Phi Beta on Homecoming Court this year. It was a very special moment to be crowned Homecoming Queen by last year's Pi Chapter president and former Homecoming Queen, Shelby Kruse '11. Events like Dad's Day, Halloween Social, Mom/Dot Week and Reveal, our Mom's Auction, Founders' Day, volunteering at the Girls on the Run 5K, initiation, and our winter formal will keep our members busy throughout the rest of the semester. Our annual fall philanthropy, Do It Sober, was on November 9. We partnered with Sigma Alpha Epsilon to continue to spread awareness about drunk driving in remembrance of our sister, Laura Cockson '96. Adam Morfeld spoke to students about his Good Samaritan Law and how Greek students should feel empowered to make a difference. I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude for your continuous support. We couldn't be more thankful to our advisors and House Corporation members who support us daily in our efforts to continue to make Pi Chapter an exceptional home away from home. We loved having many of you visit the chapter house during our two open house football games this year. Please continue to reach out and stay connected with us!
