ALABAMA BETA HOSTS SUCCESSFUL ALUMNI DAY Alumni Support Encouraged— How Will You Get Involved? A lumni Day was hosted by Alabama Beta on Saturday, September 12 at the Chapter's temporary house. Chapter President Tyler Brake '17 and Vice President of Communication John Wilson '17 joined other executive committee members and brothers in welcoming alumni back to campus. Alumni and their wives had the opportunity to meet many of the 150 undergraduate brothers, which included 45 new members. It was good to be able to reconnect with brothers and meet other alumni. A delicious luncheon of chicken, burgers, and salads was served to those who attended. Special cakes were also prepared by the kitchen staff to commemorate Alumni Day. After lunch, alumni gathered for the annual Alumni Volunteer Corporation (AVC) meeting, which included the election of officers for the upcoming year. Members of the current board were re-elected to serve another one-year term. Tyler and Chapter Counselor Jimmy Hubbard, Tennessee Zeta '91 updated alumni on Chapter manpower, academics, and progress being made toward moving to the permanent house. Everyone is looking forward to the next AVC general meeting. Several alumni who attended this year's Alumni Day were Joe Birdnow '92, Zane Bradford '90, Reaves Newsom '92, Hammond Cobb '72, Paul Robertson '67, Bob Holman '69, Jonathan Worrell '70, Paul Johnson '71, Joey Judge '14, Sam Sparks '71, and Josh Oriez '15. We encourage alumni to become engaged in supporting the Chapter through participation in the AVC. The first step is becoming connected with other alumni through the alumni Facebook page, the Chapter website, The Red Door newsletter, and e-mail. Look for notices regarding future alumni events and plan to attend! Fraternally, Sam Sparks '71
