We have excelled in philanthropy, chapter activities, and a variety of other Brotherhood behaviors as we work to further improve ourselves and our chapter. Concentrated on Academics Beta Alpha's GPA has continued to escalate over the past few years. Currently, Beta Alpha is at a 3.01 for the first time in about five years. Although our GPA is in the lower 50% on campus, we believe that if this pace continues, we will be in the top 50% by next year. We have hired tutors and other academic help to ensure that Brothers are doing well in their classes. Philanthropy Pursuits Last fall, we created a new philanthropy called Angels in the Outfield, which is a softball tournament that took place on two fields near the Shelter. For the event, we worked with Pi Beta Phi to raise money for cystic fibrosis. We choose to create this event because a current Brother's sister suffers from the disease. Over 20 fraternities played softball against one another and together we raised over $7,000. The next big event was Beta Alpha's Mom's Weekend, which included a silent auction that raised over $4,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This was the most money ever donated from any past Mom's Weekend. In April, we will host Powderpuff, where the active Brothers each find teams of 10-12 women to play in a football tournament. In the past, this tournament has been a huge hit, bringing many students to the Shelter. Our projected amount of money raised is $8,000. This money will also be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Looking Forward to the Little 500 Our bike team has never been so excited to race for gold this year at the Little 500.
