he leant his treasure via a gift to the capital campaign. "My contribution will help preserve a fraternity that shares three centuries of history with Colgate. Colgate lacks a fraternity that embodies DKE's founding principles. No other undergraduate organization at Colgate was as successful as DKE producing men as accomplished in academics and leadership. Continuing to support Mu provides the opportunity to positively influence Colgate and potentially bring something back that Colgate lacks." Xave encourages brothers who have yet to participate in the effort to restore the Temple to consider contributing what they can. "It's the perfect way to have a positive impact on Mu and preserve a vital Colgate tradition dating back to 1856. We will change in order to remain the same." It was a great time for the alumni brotherhood! 3 Delta Kappa Epsilon Xave Jacoby IV '12 F or recent graduates, it's essential to find individuals who will build you up both personally and professionally. Luckily for Mike Miller '12, he finds his support system close by through Mu of DKE. "DKE has provided me with a huge network that I rely on often. When I first moved to Chicago, I immediately reached out to other alumni members who welcomed me to a new city with open arms," says Mike. "Professionally, I've leaned on older alumni that also work in finance for advice and opportunities. As I've gotten older, I've made myself available to recent graduate members to try and help them with their careers." Mike is an options trader at a Chicago-based proprietary trading firm, Consolidated Trading. He was even hired by a Colgate graduate, further evidence of how he has benefited by staying connected to the university he loves. As an undergraduate, Mike was a leader among his peers, serving as student body president and volunteering for organizations such as Sidekicks. Today, he remains involved by serving on the University's annual giving team. Not only does Mike give back to Colgate, but to DKE as well. When asked to contribute to the Stoking the Embers to Preserve the Flame campaign, he says it was a no-brainer. "My experience with the chapter has had a large, positive influence on my life over the past three years. It's the perfect way to preserve a tradition and organization that has given us so much. While we'll make improvements to the Temple, we'll also provide scholarships for undergraduates to give them the same tremendous opportunities that we had." Mike's favorite advantage of his DKE membership is the unique friendships the brotherhood provides. "It is a close-knit group of Colgate alumni unlike any other."
