68 | November/December 2015 TEAM NEW ENGLAND Sunday River - Newry, Maine Eight peaks infinite snow is the tagline for this ski resort located in the heart of Maine. ere is plenty to do whether it be a couple's getaway, a college reunion or for a family va- cation. e resort lives up to its tagline considering Sunday River typically has more or equivalent terrain to every other resort in the United States. Ski backcountry over at the Jor- dan Bowl or take the li overlooking the superpipe for some adventurous moguls. Or simply take the "chondola," a chair and gondola combination for some cruising down the moun- tain. Trying to find an adventure for the little ones? Look no further than Sunday River Resort. Over the December holi- days, Sunday River offers weekly entertainment including fireworks, musicians and more: all with the kids in mind. Highlight: Family-friendly environment and the Jimmy Buf- fet spoof: Parrot Head Festival! Sugarloaf - Carrabassett Valley, Maine Sugarloaf is the home and original stomping grounds of Olympic Boardercross champion, Seth Wescott. It is the larg- est resort east of the Mississippi with the second highest ver- tical drop. is resort is a great place to learn the fundamen- tals of skiing or to take the chairli to the top of the mountain and adventure your way down. Sugarloaf 's 'Anti Gravity Cent- er' is a 20,000 square foot facility located at the base of the mountain. e complex includes a rock-climbing wall, skate park, work out area, and set of Olympic-sized trampolines. Killington – Killington, Vermont Killington has Sugarloaf beat for the highest vertical drop on the east coast. If you're looking for an adrenaline rush, definitely check out this resort tucked away in the woods of Vermont. e access road is something out of a storybook. Imagine thousands of evergreens sprinkled with snow and cascading mountains in the background.
