Pink carnations. You'll see all at Red Bluff Garden Club's Annual Standard Flower Show & Plant Sale titled "Fun & Flowers from the '50s." Come to the Fairgrounds in Red Bluff on Fri- day and Saturday 10 to 6 May 4 and 5. Admission is free. We invite you to participate. Designer Pam Ness is leading the committee to turn the Home Arts Building into a '50s Soda Shop with juke boxes playing rock & roll on 45 rpm, photo ops and dozens of pink carnations enhancing the tables holding hundreds of flowers and plants. Classic car show will be outside, where you can vote on your favorite. Bryce Drum- mond, center, introduced his son Toby, who has needed frequent trips to specialists. They are shown with Carolyn Swinhart, the Red Bluff Emblem Club president; Ginger Mohler, the president of the Tehama County Society for Crippled Children and Adults; and Phyllis Mendonca, the case chairman of the society. Flowering trees and shrubs highlight this sec- tion. This Section includes broadleaf evergreens and deciduous trees and shrubs. "Hey Good Lookin" presents Combination Plantings—dish gar- grown plants include "A White Sports Coat & A Pink Carnation" as flowering begonias, cactus, orchids, African Violets, and succulents. "Jail House Rock" includes ferns, fancy-leafed begonias, geraniums, philodendron and Monstera. All sections include an "other" class so you can enter your favorite. Sendoff gathering held for troops Special to the DN On Feb. 9, E's Locker Room Owners Elmer and Babs Fries hosted a send- off gathering for seven service men and one ser- vice woman and their families from the local National Guard 132nd Engineers who have been deployed to Afganistan. All but one of these guards were previously deployed in Iraq in 2007. The group included Ron Spliethof, Jeremy Lough, "Huggy" Powell, Ron Campbell, Nina Frier- mood, Philip Hiel, Scotty Garwood, and Steven "Cosmo" Apodaca. Demonstration On Squirrel Poisoning At Sykes Place Beginning at 9:30 tomorrow morning, a demonstra- tion will be given on the Albert Sykes farm in Antelope valley in the use of carbon bisulfide for the eradication of ground squirrels, and also gopher poisoning. The demon- stration will be given by Norman G.
