Cooperative Extension was recognized for its efforts to support service personnel and military families at Fort Bragg through 4-H Youth Development programs, Agricultural Training for active military service members and the Warrior Transition Battalion Tranquility Garden for wounded warriors and soldiers in transition. The Cooperative Extension staff and volunteers were recognized by the Board of Commissioners on Oct. 19. Extension Recognized For Military Outreach Free Wi-Fi Internet access is now offered at the Cumberland County Courthouse. Each floor of the building has three or four access points to provide full Courthouse coverage. The system can serve 25-50 users depending on what they are doing online. The wireless network is: cumberlandwireless. The court system has posted signs reminding the public that all cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off and put away upon entering the courtrooms. Court officials do not allow cell phones and electronic devices to be held after entry into the courtrooms. Cumberland County's Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteer program will offer a training class for persons interested in becoming Extension Master Gardener Volunteers next year beginning Jan. 21 and ending May 12. The class will meet every Thursday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Cumberland County Cooperative Extension Auditorium, located at 301 East Mountain Dr., Fayetteville. The deadline for accepting applications is Nov. 16. There is a cost for the training, which will cover training supplies and the Extension Master Gardener Training manual. Applications can be obtained by calling the Extension office at 910-321-6405 or 910-321-6871 or going online to cumberland.ces.ncsu.edu.
