The men recruited 28 new members, won a Buchanan Cup at Grand Conclave, and placed fifth among fraternities with a 3.152 GPA. The Chapter was number one last fall with a 3.197 GPA. The bar was substantially raised by several chapters, and Kappa Alpha Order led with a 3.299 GPA. The Buchanan Cup The Buchanan Cup recognizes the best of the best Sigma Phi Epsilon chapters. Chapters are measured in relation to the accomplishments of their peers on campuses across the country. Only the chapters that excel in every area of operations and further the Grand Chapter's strategic plan qualify for this high honor. Out of 231 chapters, 36 have received Buchanan Cups. The review team feedback form for the Chapter's application noted "Missouri Gamma Chapter is performing at a very high level. The Chapter's academics and member development programs are among the best in the nation." This is the sixth Buchanan Cup MO Gamma has received, winning in 1977, 1981, 1985, 1995, and 1997. The men worked hard to qualify for this award. The challenge now becomes improving the performance to be on the stage in 2017! Grand Conclave Grand Conclave is held every two years; it has educational, legislative, and recognition opportunities. More than 1,600 people registered for this year's Conclave, making it the largest in SigEp's history, and the largest fraternity gathering in the world. On August 12-16, Mike Kearney '61, Dr. John Parks '64, Mike Schmidt '75, Dr. LeRoy Thompson '56, Scott Tucci '15, Sebastian Klesing '16, and I attended the Grand Conclave in Nashville. It is a stimulating and motivating program and was an outstanding opportunity to appreciate what our brothers across the country have accomplished.
