The center is adjacent to the Cumberland County Department of Social Services. Construction started on the three-story, 108,000-square-foot building in June 2008. The new center is 20 percent larger than the former Health Department building on Fountainhead Lane. In addition to construction of the building itself, the project also included site improvements consisting of storm drainage conveyance and management system, paved parking, site lighting, concrete loading dock pad, sidewalks, irrigation system and landscaping. New Public Health Center Opens on Ramsey Street Event Promotes Census Awareness, Temporary Jobs Available O ur recent extremely cold weather has prompted the Cumberland County Department of Social Services to relax eligibility requirements for the Crisis Intervention Program that provides urgent energy assistance to those in need. The Salvation Army takes CIP applications at 226 South Cool Spring St. In the past, the Salvation Army had been instructed to only use CIP funds if a member of the household was under 6 or over 60 years of age (with some exceptions). Under the newly adopted policy, the Salvation Army is taking applications regardless of the age of the household members. All other eligibility requirements must be met to receive assistance. In order to speed up the eligibility determination process, people applying for assistance are asked to bring their utility bill with WKHPWRWKH6DOYDWLRQ$UP\7KHPD[LPXPEHQHÀWOLPLWSHU year (July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010) remains in effect and is contingent upon the availability of funding.
