2A Daily News – Wednesday, March 21, 2012 Community people&events New officers guide weight loss group TOPS Club, Inc. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) announces that members of TOPS CA 2119 Red Bluff have named Nancy Mark as new chapter leader. Other officers elected include co-leader Marilyn Harper, Secretary Joy Whitley and Treasurer Cheri Fereira. TOPS has appointed Loretta Bloxham as weight recorder. A volunteer-run organization, the TOPS chapter leader runs weekly meetings, leads a variety of edu- cational programs that help members reach and maintain their weight-loss goals and promotes the TOPS message in the community. The co-leader will assist with these activities while the secretary officially records meeting min- utes and the treasurer is responsible for the chapter's finances. Bloxham records the weights of each member during weekly weigh-in and submits these numbers to the designated TOPS field staff members. Absolute confidentiality is required as is the ability to support members if they gain and to applaud when they have a loss. "At TOPS we understand that losing weight is a journey," Mark said. "It's the consistent encourage- ment, understanding and strength from people who are struggling with similar issues that make this organization so successful." Weekly meetings of TOPS in Red Bluff take place at 8:30 a.m. Thursdays at 926 Madison Ave. Visitors are always welcome to attend their first TOPS meeting free of charge. To find another local chapter, visit www.tops.org or call TOPS Headquarters at 800-932-8677. SECRET WITNESS 529-1268 A program of Tehama County Neighborhood Watch Program, Inc.
