First up was the Lincoln Tro- jans, a 20-10 Division 1 school, at 3 p.m. Friday. The Bulldogs gave the Trojans 23 free balls and fell 25-16 and 25-11. The Enochs Eagles were next at 6 p.m. Friday and Los Moli- nos struggled in serve receiv- ing against a good, 17-10 Eagles squad. The Bulldogs lost 25-9 and 25-14. Saturday morning brought an 8:30 match against the 17-11 West Campus, which the Bulldogs lost 25-12 and 26-24. "We did not win this game, but we definitely got out of our two- week funk in this game," Chas Ko- nopka said. Splitting the first two sets, the Bulldogs lost an 11 a.m. match to the Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors 25-21, 13-25 and 15-10. The Bull- dogs were up 16-10 in the first set. The Bulldogs' win would come in a 2:30 p.m. match against 2-9 Rosemont, 25-11 and 25-14. Facing an 8-15 College Park Falcons squad in the final match of the tournament, the Bulldogs would fall 25-18 and 25-15. Chico scored twice in the first half and once in the second, but Corning posted three goals in the second half to tie it up at the end of regulation. Chico eventually won in the second overtime pe- riod. Captain Whitney Armstrong took five shots and scored once, with two assists. Maggie Aulabaugh made four saves in 30 minutes of goaltend- ing and Kate Picha made 11 saves and five blocked strokes in 30 minutes. For Corning's first goal the team brought the ball down the sideline to pass across the goal from Angela Diaz to Armstrong to Gabby Peterson at the corner for the score. "Sam Mamula attacked the ball defensively and was a key to get- ting the ball up the field," said coach Teresa Lamb. Following a timeout, Arm- strong scored within 40 seconds. For the third goal, Armstrong pushed to Peterson for the score. "Ally Zuppan, Armstrong, Diaz and Peterson worked well passing the ball," Lamb said. In overtime the team played Armstrong, Brooke Barr, Picha, Diaz, Danny and Ally Zuppan and Mamula. In the shootout, Arm- strong, Diaz and Peterson scored. "Brooke Barr did a great job of shutting down their leading scorer by always having a stick on her," Lamb said.
