All tax-deductible funds donated to the society through the Iowa State Foundation will sustain our undergraduates' educational programming, which provides more than $11,000 each year in undergraduate scholarships. Gifts can also be made to the non-tax deductible alumni corporation board account that helps underwrite alumni-related activities. Entry into this important society requires that alumni contribute an annual membership gift of $240 (or $20 a month for 12 months). Making donations to Alpha Mu has never been easier as monthly debits and online payments are available on our website at isuthetachi.org. Alumni brothers have already begun pledging their support and the undergraduate members are extremely grateful. Those who choose to donate will receive recognition in the next edition of the Tomahawk, but more importantly, these gifts will better the lives of our active members. Our responsibility to Alpha Mu doesn't end when we leave the university; we carry it with us for the rest of our lives as we draw from our Theta Chi creed: "I shall do all in my power to perpetuate its ideals, thereby serving my God, my country and my fellow-man." As alumni, it's important we demonstrate our dedication to Theta Chi and the active chapter through programs such as The Brotherhood Society of Alpha Mu, and our aim is for high participation in this program. Please look for more information on this unique giving opportunity in the weeks to come. The harvest is about to commence and the football season is in full swing. We were blessed with wonderful weather for the annual tailgate on September 5 and had a very good crowd both Friday night and Saturday prior to game time. It is always fun to catch up on the events that have taken place in the lives of brothers and their families. To top the day off, we celebrated a Cyclone victory against the University of Northern Iowa in the evening. I am happy to report that we have one of the largest pledge classes we've had in several years and the house is full. I want to commend the entire chapter and especially the summer recruitment chairmen for all of their hard work in obtaining such a fine pledge class. It makes the job of board members much easier when we have a full house and our budget is flush. I also want to thank all of the brothers who have contributed to the Iowa State University Foundation for the benefit of Theta Chi. Our ability to grant scholarships to the undergraduates certainly assists in the recruitment process. Strong support from alumni is essential to the maintenance of an undergraduate chapter. On behalf of the entire board of directors, thank you.
