Theta Kite 2 Chapter Anticipates Prosperous Fall Semester T he Alpha Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta is known at Purdue for high academic achievement, strong leadership, and commitment to community service. We look forward to yet another semester to uphold the ideals our fraternity was built upon. Alpha Chi Welcomes 35 New Women Recruitment started on the first weekend after classes began. All of us worked so hard to prepare for it and I am confident we recruited the best women on campus. We are so excited to get to know our new pledge class! Academic and Philanthropic Achievements We hosted our annual Theta-Fiji Grill-Off with Phi Gamma Delta on October 18, which took place in our parking lot. The proceeds made at the event all benefit the Tippecanoe County CASA. Last year was very successful, raising a total of over $10,000. We are excited to receive this year's final totals! We have many girls in the house who are now age-eligible to apply to be a CASA volunteer, so we are hoping to get more Thetas personally involved in this great organization. Our spring semester was a big success in many ways. I'm thrilled to announce that we are number two in grades, with a GPA of 3.36. We strive for the best, not only with our GPAs, but also with how we contribute to the greater community. Collectively, our chapter completed 1,100 hours of community service and participated in philanthropies all over campus. Purdue Greek Gala Awards Every year, Purdue hosts a Greek Gala where chapters are recognized for various accomplishments made throughout the past year. Alpha Chi was recognized for many individual topics, including: community service and philanthropy, sisterhood, and alumnae relations. For the second consecutive year we were given the huge honor of receiving the Dean Barbara Elsbury Award, which is given to the best overall chapter on campus. Centennial Celebration We had the pleasure of celebrating Alpha Chi's 100-year birthday over Memorial Day weekend. The weekend was spent enjoying each other's company, touring campus, renewing our Theta vows, and attending a wonderful Gala dinner that took us on a trip of our history. All of the active members that came loved getting to know our chapter better and developing another layer of what Theta truly means. There is no better way to learn about Theta than by meeting our sisters of all ages! It was a beautiful weekend spent with wonderful people. Theta is a beautiful legacy and I can't say enough how blessed I feel to lead this group of dedicated women on this journey. Each and every one of these girls will surely follow in the footsteps of those before us and continue to uphold the ideals of Kappa Alpha Theta.
