BREAKING DOWN COSTS Now that the first phase is complete, we have the actual project cost information that we would like to share with the corporation members. Our total cost for this project, including hard costs of demolition and construction, soft costs of architectural and engineering services, and bank fees, was $1,649,797. As of July 31, 2015, we paid down the loan with $223,930 in gifts and $27,456 from operating income for a loan balance of $1,398,411. DID YOU KNOW? Did you know that when you become an alumna of Sigma Kappa, you became a lifetime member of the national organization and Xi Chapter? Xi Corporation Board represents all of our Xi alumnae by maintaining and operating the Lawrence chapter house. Our actives are charged room and board to cover operating costs, including mortgage payments, meals, employee wages, property and wage taxes, utilities, insurance, maintenance, and general improvements. Even though we utilized a capital campaign for the renovation, the capital pledges to date are only $356,192. All pledge payments have been collateralized for our loan. This means as we receive these payments either from the foundation or directly to the corporation, they are paid to the bank to lower the loan principle. We cannot save any of the capital campaign payments for future house renovation phases. Since the campaign will end December 31, it is imperative we raise as much as we can to the capital campaign fund to help pay down our loan, so please send your pledge in today. We also encourage you to be mindful of paying your $20 membership dues each year to the corporation; we can use the dues for future capital improvements. Thank you again for all of your support!
