H H H H sigma XI CHAPTER OF SIGMA KAPPA H UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS Fall 2015 T he capital campaign for Xi Chapter is drawing to a close. We have raised $356,192 toward our $500,000 fundraising goal. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of alumnae, their families, and friends. We have received donations from some of our oldest members and our newest. The response from the active chapter warmed all of our hearts and inspired others. Due to all of the support we received, the house corporation was able to complete the first phases of our much-needed renovations at the chapter house, and we thank you for your generous contributions. We couldn't have done it without you! BONDS ARE STRENGTHENED THROUGH CAPITAL CAMPAIGN It has also been gratifying to work with so many wonderful women during this campaign. Women have worked on various committees writing thank-you notes, calling classmates, sending e-mails, writing letters, and so much more. Many of the women have reported an unexpected bonus: they have wonderful stories of renewing contacts and making new friends. Quite a few of these have been intergenerational and very rewarding. They have met friends of their mothers and friends of their daughters. FOCUS TURNED TO FUTURE UPDATES We achieved major renovations thanks to your contributions. While we are well on our way to having one of the best facilities at KU, we want to ensure the completion of all renovations while handling normal maintenance on the house. We cannot maintain our beautiful home without you. Please help us get as close to possible to our fundraising goal with your pledge today. YOUR SUPPORT IS STILL NECESSARY Even though much of the house may look complete, there is still more that needs to be done. We still need pledges to help pay for our loan. For those of you who have given generously, we sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have made this possible. If you are able, please consider extending that pledge another year or making an additional contribution. For those of you who have not given, we appreciate any amount you feel you can give toward this massive project. Every dollar counts to help us complete our fundraising goal of $500,000. The campaign is ending December 31, 2015. Time is almost up in helping out with this campaign. All donors pledging at least $2,500 will see their names on a lovely plaque permanently displayed in the renovated chapter house. Remember, we have a five-year pledge program to stretch your gift to its full potential. Many of our Xi sisters have used this program to make a larger gift. And pledges are very helpful as we have a loan that will need Honoring Our Past, Securing Our Future Campaign to End December 31 Hurry, Last Chance to Add Your Name to the Contributors List! (Continued on page 4) First Phases are ComPlete thanks to Your Generous Donations T he Xi House Corporation extends its gratitude to all of our donors to the capital campaign! The scope of this project required a construction manager to be very time conscious considering we only had two and one-half months to complete a project that would under normal circumstances take five months. Rau Construction Company was very professional, courteous, and thoughtful. They went above and beyond to accommodate our time constraints. UPDATES COMPLETE There were several projects that were completed prior to the start of the grander portion of phase one. This included the portico and fire door that were completed (Continued on page 3) This summer, Xi's parking lot was patched and sealed. Plus, new lavender lines were painted reversing the direction of travel. Donations from generous alumnae helped make this possible. Thank you! Make your gift today at sigmakappaxi. kintera.org/ campaign before it's too late!
