There were times when there was room for improvement, but we kept a positive attitude and moved forward. We hope to make some big changes to the Chapter house in the near future! In the meantime, we did some cosmetic renovations this summer, as well as some structural renovations. The dining room, the tube room, the formal living room, and the hallways were painted. New light fixtures and fans were installed in the dining room. Because June was an unusually wet month, there was significant water damage in our basement. We had to reinforce and reinstall our drainage system, as well as replace the carpet in both the study room and the basement TV room. All in all, it was a very productive summer! In addition to all the changes to the Chapter house, we hired a new house director, Stephanie Markert. Steph and her dog, Bella, joined us from the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Delta Gamma at Drake University. This is Steph's 23rd year as a house director. She has two children: a son who is a chemical engineer in Houston, Texas, and a daughter who is an occupational therapist in Des Moines, Iowa. She also has eight grandchildren. Luckily for us, she and Bella were able to join us right in time for recruitment. Cute and cuddly Bella was a huge hit! We invite you to stop by 1015 Emery Road any time to meet Mom Steph and Bella, and to see the improvements we've made to the house!
