Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi 3 Silent Chapter Lela Arnett Hall '44 entered the Silent Chapter on March 19 in Gainesville, Texas. Lela was a joyful and caring person, capable of seeing the positive in all situations. She was a past president of Moreau Heights PTA, district chairwoman for Heart of Missouri Girl Scouts, president of the Advisory Board of the YMCA, a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and Parks and Recreation Board. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City and a Governor's Mansion Docent. Lela is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard; her children: Patricia, Richard, and David; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Maryanna Hoefel Holm '44 of West Grove, Penn., entered the Silent Chapter on February 11. She was a talented singer and the choir director for St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church for 25 years. Maryanna taught at the Sterck School for the Deaf and, for many years, was admissions director for the Kentmere-Home of Merciful Rest. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bart; her children: William, David, and Megan; and seven grandchildren. Ruth Singleton Kime '47 entered the Silent Chapter on April 14 in Tucson, Ariz., following a short illness. She was the first woman to major in business at Mizzou. She worked at Marshall & Ilsley Bank in Milwaukee, Wis., in the early 1950s and served as perennial treasurer of the Alpha Phi Chapter at Purdue University, where she received her undergraduate degree. Natalie McNeill Aschen '67 entered the Silent Chapter in November 2014, at the age of 66. She graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1966 and received her degree in education. She is survived by her husband, George, and her siblings: Nancy, Jim, Steven, and Marilee. Alumnae Update Sandy Reynolds Yon '57 reports that she continues to volunteer, last year exceeding 20,000 volunteer hours at Virginia Beach General Hospital. She is also a volunteer at the Virginia Aquarium, with more than 6,000 volunteer hours working as a docent in the aquarium and on the dolphin and whale watch boats. In the last several years, she has traveled to the Ukraine, Tanzania on safari, Morocco, Indonesia, Vietnam, Greece, and Japan. She is a great grandmother and stays very busy. She stays active volunteering, gardening, taking a trip now and then, and keeping up with all the cultural, educational, and outdoor activities available year-round in western North Carolina. Linda still enjoys sewing, gardening, reading, and her grandchildren. She and her husband, Pete, took their first cruise in 1995 to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. Since then, the couple has taken 308 Royal Caribbean cruises. The pair recently renewed their wedding vows on Explorer of the Seas, in celebration of their 30th wedding anniversary. Susan Chaffin Matthews '69 retired in May 2015 after 28 years as a reading specialist with Caruthersville School District in Missouri. She served as general chairman for the Missouri State Chapter Convention of P.E.O. Sisterhood in Cape Girardeau in June. At the end of the convention, she was elected to the P.E.O. In November 2014, she married Bill Ford. Together they have 11 grandchildren. The couple resides in Hamilton, Mo. She continues her local newspaper column, serves as a NC Humanities Council Road Scholar, and contributes to a food blog hosted by WFAE, the NPR affiliate in Charlotte. Tammy lives in Newton, N.C., with her husband, Tym, and has one son, Lantz. Gene retired and Barbara transferred to the Phoenix VA where she is a mental health therapist with a specialty in treating Vietnam veterans for PTSD. Members have knowledge about electronics recycling and refurbishing and promote safe and sustainable industry practices through the R2 Standard, a third-party certification for the electronics recycling industry. She lives in Kingston, Ill., with her husband, Tim, and has two children, Bridget Ann and Annie Olivia.
