Screaming Eagle has landed Marc Raglin, son of Vern and Kathie Raglin, returned home to his family for the Christmas holi- day season upon the completion of his combat tour to Afghanistan, and the end of his six year enlistment with the U.S Army. Marc had been assigned to the 159th Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, at Fort Campbell, KY. He served with the aviation branch as a certified helicopter mechanic and flight crew member aboard UH-60 Blackhawk heli- copters. During his six years in the military as a specialist, Raglin deployed to both theaters of com- bat, completed various training exercises and missions within the U.S and was a member of a sup- port mission in the Bahamas working closely with the D.E.A. During five years as an active flight crew member, he accumu- lated nearly 1,500 hours of flight time, with nearly 1,000 of those being flown in combat. Raglin plans to put his aviation background and flight experience to exceptional use, hoping to pur- sue a college degree in the field of aeronautics, as well as taking flight lessons to become a civilian helicopter pilot. His first job that sparked the dream of wanting to become a pilot was working with P.J. Heli- copters as a hanger janitor. Ever since then, the sky has been Raglin's limit. Deadlines are zooming closer for digital film and still photography entries into the annual Sundial Film Festival competition in Redding. Monday, Jan. 11, is the last possible due date for both segments of the March 10-13 festival. For a complete set of entry catagories, rules and guidelines, including how to submit, visit http://www.sundialfilmfestival.com/. The festival is a Northern California celebra- tion of professional and amateur filmmakers and photographers. It incorporates an interna- tional and children's film experience with the "State of Jefferson" competition, designed to showcase digital film and photography that enlighten and reflect the talent and diversity of artists and natural resources of Northern Cali- fornia and Southern Oregon. One of the guiding objectives of the Sundial Film Festival is to educate and foster film and photography production among youth, that they might discover an interest or career using this craft. Festival organizers have added more days, new topics, new vision and expanded cate- gories. Winners will receive cash prizes, beauti- ful ribbon medallions and custom Sundial Film Festival trophies. Students are particularly encouraged to participate. For a schedule of fes- tival and ticket prices visit www.sundialfilmfes- tival.com/schedule/. The Sundial Film Festival is produced by Rotary Club of Redding Chari- table Foundation. Proceeds benefit student scholarship funds and community improvement projects.
