KAPPA KAPPA GAMMA 3 1 2 3 4 7 5 6 BETA CHI UNDERGRADUATES STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE Chapter Focuses on Academics and Sisterhood I am so pleased to share the success that Beta Chi Chapter had last spring! It has been a true honor to serve as chapter president with such dedicated and devoted women. With fall semester in full swing, we are looking forward to the many events we have planned this semester and are excited to see what the future holds. Incentive Programs Ensure Academic Success Our academic performance this year has been amazing. This past semester, we had an overall GPA of a 3.37 and are ranked well above the all-sorority average. Vice President of Academic Excellence Megan Helson '13 started new programs to keep motivation strong, including awarding gift cards for the member with the most study hours each month and a weekly t-shirt drawing for members who did well on assignments and tests. Making a Difference in the Community With the money that we raised from our philanthropy event last semester, Kappa Bowl, a soccer tournament played in large inflatable balls, we were able to buy books and meet the kids who were receiving them at a local elementary school. Along with the book fair, we are continuing our relationship with Bryan Station Middle School, the school where we held GIRLS Academy last semester. We attend weekly lunches and lead an after-school program with the girls. Beta Chi Gains 89 New Members We just finished a wonderful recruitment and couldn't be more excited to welcome 89 wonderful new Kappas home. We can't wait to see the great things that the new members will bring to our chapter. Sisterhood Activities Planned for Fall This semester, we are planning our annual sisterhood event to Boyd's Pumpkin Patch along with an event sponsored by Laura Schnettler '03, who sells Mary Kay. We are planning several philanthropy events and Founder's Day, and can't wait to start getting the word out about them! Alumnae, Come Visit 238 E. Maxwell St. We are so excited to see the events and memories that will be made this semester and hope to be able to share many of them with you! As the saying goes, "And in the years after, with tears or with laughter, we'll always remember our dear Kappa days." Thank you for your support and dedication to this chapter and for giving each of us the opportunity to have such an amazing experience and a home away from home at Kappa.
