By Heather Hoelscher hhoelscher@redbluffdailynews. com @DN_Heather on Twitter RED BLUFF For the first time the Tehama District Fair participates in the MakerMovementbyholding the Makershowcase exhibit in the Home Arts building in the fair. "The purpose of the Mak- ershowcase is to honor mak- ing in all of its forms," said Michelle Carlson owner of Future Development Group. The community gets to come together and show their work. The Makershowcase is open throughout the fair but will be holding a spe- cial project for all to partic- ipate that will continue Sun- day from 1 to 5 p.m. Partic- ipants will be able to make their own T-shirts with the Copy Center's help. The cen- ter has provided the equip- ment for the project so that everyone will learn how to use a screening machine to print the design on the shirts and be able to take one home with them. "They went through so many T-shirts," Carlson said. "The Copy Center and Human Bean have donated a lot of time and energy to maketheseT-shirtshappen." Corning Union High School, along with Scott Chandler the marketing di- rector for Rolling Hills Ca- sino, came up with an idea to have students partici- pate in the Makershowcase by creating and designing a project. Teachers came together and brought their students to work on a sand and light computer project that uses an X-box Connect to project light from a computer on to sand. The project will be donated to Lassen Volcanic National Park to be on dis- play for all to enjoy. Rolling Hills Casino, the Tehama District Fair and the Tehama County Depart- ment of Education were the community partners who helped make the Maker- showcase possible for the fair. Maker also will be par- ticipating in the Film Festi- val at the State Theatre at 6 p.m. Oct. 6.
