T he Beta Mu Chapter had a successful spring semester as the refounding members returned to the Purdue campus. With guidance from Chapter Development Coordinator Jack Jajewski, Chapman '14, 51 new members were selected, educated, and initiated during the school year. The cumulative GPA for these members is 3.24, the highest of all fraternities on Purdue's campus. INVOLVEMENT IN AND AROUND CAMPUS During the spring semester, we participated in a variety of philanthropic and community service projects and every brother was involved in some way. Additionally, we competed in intramurals and had a great time. Several members took advantage of the various Beta leadership training opportunities (Keystone, UIFI, Wooden), and we had a large contingent attend the annual Beta Theta Pi convention. We held many brotherhood events, including a retreat to Oxford, Ohio, and a spring break trip to Tennessee. Socially speaking, we held numerous events with various sororities. These included an ice skating party and a "speed dating" event. SPARKING CHANGE As we move forward this fall, we are looking forward to continuing the momentum. We face many challenges as part of our recolonization, but the members are motivated to make Beta Mu successful in all aspects of the campus experience. It is our goal to spark a change in Greek life. In this endeavor, we are assisted by Chapter Development Coordinator Brock Griffin, Utah '13, House Director Matt Davenport, and 15 Chapter advisors. PRIORITIES FOR SUCCESS Our first priority is recruitment. Our goal this fall was to attract at least 25 Men of Principle to join our "Return to Dominance" pursuit. We're proud to announce we have 32 solid men joining our ranks. We will also be strictly enforcing the risk management principles that have been established. Finally, we will be providing assistance to any member that has academic challenges. We are striving to be in a position to officially get our charter back and be nominated for Knox or Sisson awards as soon as possible. We are very appreciative of the support from our alumni and encourage everyone to come back and see Beta Mu this year. The house renovations are amazing, and we feel privileged to be a part of this recolonization.
