AlwAys Anchored PAge 2 Epsilon Alumna Follows Her Love of Writing Spotlight on Anne Linsley Ball '74 A nne Linsley Ball '74 graduated from OSU in 1977, and most of her favorite campus memories involve being a part of the Epsilon Chapter of ΔΓ. She particularly enjoyed holding office in the fraternity, holding office in the Panhellenic Judicial Commission as chief justice, taking part in the OSU administration of recruitment, being a fraternity sweetheart, and receiving a student leader award from the University in 1976. Anne feels she learned a great deal about leadership and cooperation during her college years. After college, Anne moved to California to share rent with her cousin. A few years later, she moved to the Pacific Northwest, where she pursued her multi-decade career in human resource development. As much as Anne loved her time in Columbus (she still has family in Ohio), she is definitely a western girl. Anne is now married and has two adult children who live within five miles of her home. For a short time in the '80s, Anne was an advisor to the ΔΓ chapter at the University of Washington. As of July 1, Anne has officially retired to devote her time to writing. So far, she has published three novels under the pen name of Rayanne Sinclair via Hopetoun Publishing. Her genre is new adult inspirational romance and she is working on her fourth book, which is scheduled for release later this year. Anne's work can be found on her website, www.rayannesinclair.com, and at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. She is particularly proud of her most recent work, Page Turner, which takes place at OSU in the early '60s. The acknowledgement page of this book contains a hat-tip to the National Champion Buckeyes! You can reach Anne via e-mail at rs@sayannesinclair.com. Welcome to Epsilon! Mary Giapponi, House Director Mary is from Northwest Indiana and is a former school teacher specializing in reading. She was a house director for four years at Purdue University, where she did her undergraduate work. Mary is excited to be part of Epsilon! Tina Clemens, Chef Tina is excited to return to the ΔΓ kitchen for her second year as chef. She is an alumna of The Ohio State University and the Columbus Culinary Institute. When she's not in the kitchen, you will find her spending time with her husband, Reece; children, Tripp and Elizabeth; and two Golden Retrievers, Halo and Marlie, in Worthington, Ohio. Dr. Redonda Miller '88 Excited to Reconnect with Delta Gamma A love of Delta Gamma radiates from Dr. Redonda Miller '88 when she is asked about her time at Epsilon Chapter. From the day she pledged, she has been proud to call herself a Delta Gamma. "It was just the most amazing group of friends—fun-loving, kind, smart, and loyal. I was incredibly honored to be a member of such a well- respected organization that valued strength of character, integrity, and charity as core ideals." Today, Redonda is the vice president for medical affairs at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she is both a practicing internist and a hospital administrator. She has been at Johns Hopkins for 24 years since graduating from its medical school. She feels Delta Gamma very much influenced her career path, thanks to the leadership skills she developed at the sorority. Redonda also learned how to work with a diverse group of friends to achieve results, which gave her a sense of organizational belonging and the confidence to lead. Redonda hopes today's undergraduates will practice saying "yes" when asked to lead. "Too often we say 'no' to new challenges; we hesitate because we feel unqualified or lack confidence." Her advice to incoming sisters is, "Make yourself say yes to these new positions or projects as those are the exact ones that will be the most rewarding." Redonda hears that Epsilon Chapter is thriving and continues to attract the best students that Ohio State has to offer. Her favorite memories from her time in the chapter house are the bonds made while rehashing the day with her sorority sisters in one of the corner bedrooms, as well as getting to know fellow students from other fraternities and sororities while serving on the Panhellenic Council. While moving away from Columbus, completing medical school, and attending to a busy career have prohibited Redonda from staying in close contact with many of her Epsilon sisters, she is eager to get back in touch. She recently joined Facebook, so be sure to add her and reconnect! Redonda and her husband, Albert Polito, have two little girls they adore: Francesca (10) and Bianca (6). "They better be little DGs in the future!" Redonda says. The family lives in Baltimore, Maryland. E-mail: rgmiller@jhmi.edu
