SEPTEMBER 23-29, 2015 UCW 29 WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM The Kiwanis Club of Fayet teville was chartered in 1921. Since then the club has worked tirelessly to improve the communit y and the lives of all within it. They do this through volunteer service and grants to organizations that align with the club's goals. Much of their projects focus on the future of the communit y and its children. To support these projects members host fundraisers throughout the year. One such fundraiser is the annual Kiwanis Care for Kids Golf Tournament, which is slated for Sept. 24. The tournament includes prizes for teams finishing first, middle and last. The golf tournament is not only a day of fun and camaraderie, but also an investment in the future of the communit y. Golfers can register either as individuals or as teams of four. For those who wish to support the fantastic cause without golfing there are also numerous sponsorship opportunities. All proceeds from sponsorships and golfers support the Child Advocacy Center. The Child Advocacy Center is an organization dedicated to assisting children and their families af ter the tragedy of sexual abuse. The center provides numerous services for residents of Cumberland Count y, Fort Bragg and Pope Army Airfield. It also provides a safe and caring environment staffed by professionals equipped to assist families with the intensely difficult situations they are facing. The staff also provides communit y outreach and education programs. Proceeds from the golf tournament assist the Child Advocacy Center in growing its programs. To further support the efforts to protect children, the website offers volunteer opportunities, accepts donations and lists available sponsorships.
