Hailing from Cypress, Texas, Connor chose Texas A&M when he had the opportunity to play football and study petroleum engineering. College has given him a new chance to be involved with new opportunities, including joining Delta Tau Delta. "I chose to join Zeta Sigma because I felt that the guys that I had met during rush were the most genuine," Connor says. "They weren't full of hot air or trying to showboat. I felt that I meshed well with a majority of the guys who enjoy outdoor sports and having a good time." Even though he is only starting his second year, Connor is taking advantage of every opportunity he can in the chapter and at the university. He is a member of the recruitment team for spring and fall 2015, a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and plays intramural sports year- round. While it may sound like Connor is rather busy, he wouldn't have it any other way. He says that being involved with different organizations allows him to branch out and meet other people in Greek life and other groups. "The best advice I can give to younger people is to do as much as you can and stay busy," Connor says. "First of all, it will keep you out of trouble and also stress time management, which is a vital life skill. Secondly, you meet tons and tons of people, which enhances your experience as a college student and will never hurt you down the road." Connor finds the gas and oil industry intriguing as an aspiring petroleum engineer. He hopes to travel as much as he can, whether it is for work or pleasure. He considers starting his own company one day but knows there is plenty of time to figure that out. But for now, Connor enjoys spending time with his Zeta Sigma brothers and getting together at the Shelter to grill, have camp fires, and bond as brothers. Alumni Help Prepare Shelter for Fall Semester O n July 25, we hosted our annual alumni workday at the Shelter. Attendance was not what we had hoped, but we are thankful for those who were able to join us. Approximately 20 brothers helped us prepare for the fall semester. The garage, kitchen, and pantry were all thoroughly cleaned out and the backyard was mowed. Thank you to everyone who participated, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the alumni tailgate in the fall. Fraternally, John Norman '18 Alumni Chairman
